Coronavirus, specifically the strain known as COVID-19, continues to dominate every headline. In an effort to organize COVID-19 related communications, an intranet page has been created to house all of the information shared with employees. The page can be found by clicking the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update graphic on Featured News. Within this page are links to the CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health, along with a link to a COVID-19 Human Resources information page. These resources are being updated daily, so please check frequently. To view the information shared with the public please visit www.excelahealth.org or the Excela Health Facebook page.

The Excela Way: A Grateful Mom Relates Her Experience “I have to give a big shout out to the doctors and nurses at Excela Westmoreland ER! This morning my daughter decided, (the world wasn’t crazy enough), to swallow a LEGO. She grabbed it, put it in her mouth and swallowed it quicker than I could blink. Yes, instantly I noticed and tried digging it out. But she was faster than me. The worst part was I was only inches away from her when it happened. Trust me, I feel awful. She didn’t choke nor was she showing any signs of distress. But her pediatrician sent us to the ER for an x-ray “just in case”.”

Lend a Hand to Your Community Excela Health is looking for new or used video baby monitors to help us care for patients hospitalized as a result of the pandemic. We are also in need of temporal thermometers. If you can help, please drop off your donation at the lobby at Frick, Latrobe or Westmoreland Hospital. Please include your donation and a note with your name and address so that you may be properly thanked. Don’t have these items but still want to help? Visit www.excelahealth.org and search ‘donate’ to make a donation which can be designated to the Pandemic Response Fund.
