Primary Care Weekends Holiday Hours

Primary Care Weekends will be offering extended hours during the holiday weekend. Saturday, December 31, walk-in care will be available from 8 a.m. to noon at the Excela Square at Norwin and Excela Square at Latrobe locations. The offices will be closed on Sunday in observance of New Year’s Day, but will reopen on Monday, January 2 from 8 a.m. to noon.

LAHAS "Random Acts of Kindness" Project

The Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society (LAHAS) recently presented a “Random Acts of Kindness” project for employees at Latrobe Hospital, Excela Square at Latrobe, and Laurel Surgical Center. 18 baskets and 26 gift card bags totaling $2,200 were donated. Winners were randomly drawn.

2023 Blood Drives

Blood Drive dates include: n January 31 n February 22 (held at Lloydsville Fire Hall, 208 Dickens Street, Latrobe) n March 28 n April 24 n May 23 n June 27

Excela Health is enthusiastic to collaborate with the American Red Cross on their local community blood drive programs held in Greensburg, Mount Pleasant, and Latrobe, respectively.

The Greensburg program is held at Greensburg Hose Company #6, 542 W. Otterman Street, Greensburg every other Wednesday, beginning January 4, 2023, from noon to 6 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are strongly encouraged. Register at www.redcrossblood.org and enter sponsor keyword ARCGBG.

Blood Drive dates include: n January 4 and 18 n February 1 and 15 n March 1 n April 12 and 26 n May 10 and 24 n June 21

The Latrobe program is typically held at the Latrobe American Legion Post 515, 1811 Ligonier Street, Latrobe. The program runs from noon to 5:30 p.m.; with walk-ins welcome, but appointments are strongly encouraged by registering at www.redcrossblood.org and entering the sponsor keyword LATROBE.

The ACR will host three community blood drives in Mount Pleasant at the Mount Pleasant Regional Family YMCA of the Laurel Highlands, 490 Bessemer Road, Mount Pleasant. Hours for these drives run earlier 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are strongly encouraged by registering at www.redcrossblood.org and entering the sponsor keyword RFYMCALH.

Blood Drive dates are: n February 14 n April 11 n June 21

To maximize your blood donation and to help more patients, if you are an eligible type O, B negative or A negative, consider making a Power Red donation. Red blood cells are the most commonly transfused blood component.

New Year, NU-U Program

The NU-U program is not just a weight loss program but a program that focuses on the whole self and the different aspects of weight loss, exercise, nutrition, and stress. It provides the participant with many resources that the Excela Health Well-Being Center offers and a variety of resources that are available as they embark upon their new journey in 2023. Must participate in quarterly weigh-ins to win prizes.

Kudos & Recognition

A heartfelt thank you to all the individuals, departments, and the Latrobe Area Hospital Aid Society, all of whom participated in the holiday food drive.

A special thank you to Danielle Jellison for her leadership and facilitation on this project. Approximately 110 families in the Derry community were touched by your generosity.

Each family received a full festive meal and a variety of other food items to provide for the holiday break. Each department at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital donated a particular dry food item to help fill each of the 110 boxes.
