Welcome Back Lady Bosses Club News and Announcements Ladies, It is so great to be back! :) Together we have built a unique and amazing organization and now is the time to bring it to a new level. Here is what has happened since our last magazine issue: COVID has affected everyone. Some in positive way, others in negative. Club meetings went online during the pandemic (Zoom). Now the world and the USA are opening and so will our Club. Our face-to-face meetings will be held outside using CDC recommendations. We decided do keep Zoom as an option for all meetings. It is good for keeping us together from afar, and gives a great opportunity for women from all over to attend other chapters’ meetings without driving, get support more often than 1/month, introduce themselves and their businesses to a larger number of like-minded ladies. We have expanded beyond New England and currently meet monthly in Easton (PA), Bedminster (NJ), Manchester (NH), Hooksett (NH), Woodstock (VT). Boston (MA) and Brooklyn (NY). Check our MeetUP and Facebook pages for dates and locations. If you are interested in starting a chapter in your town, please contact us and we will help you get started.
We have added monthly ONLINE meetings that are topic specific, in addition to the offline meetings that are location specific. Meetings are still FREE and open to the public, however recommended donation is $5 (for printed materials, MeetUP charges, promotions, etc.). We have created a stricter attendance and direct sales/ MLM businesses policy. We lost our "Calendar of Events," but we will be happy to bring it back as soon as we get a volunteer to keep it running. If you have 1 to 2hrs/week and want to help with this (or a any) component, please contact us. The magazine is now issued quarterly instead of monthly, to allow us to make it nicer and more interesting for you. Check out our upcoming informal gatherings. Men, kids and pets and sometimes pets are welcome to attend. Mark your calendar! 21-23 May 2021 Lady Boss Club will host our first Summit. Looking forward to seeing you at our meetings, Sophia Katarina Stuart-Rockefeller

Keys
to Successful Solo-Entrepreneurship (Solopreneurship)
By Angel R. Ackerman KEY ONE: SEE your success No doubt you’ve dedicated time to your new business. You have the idea and a plan of action. But to be successful, a solopreneur must visualize her long-term success. Do this by implementing a five year plan and breaking that plan into smaller smart goals. Each of those goals should be a small, measurable achievement that contributes to the long range plan. KEY TWO: MAKE your mark A successful solopreneur needs to identify her brand and stick to it. You did the work developing your idea, so don’t skimp! Remember, your marketing speaks before you 8

do— so invest in quality, high resolution images of yourself and a crisp, well-designed logo that will age well. Nothing too trendy. Keep your message clear, whether in visuals or words. Even if your business is complex or you offer a wide range of services, distill it to the core without convoluting what you do. KEY THREE: NETWORK to be noticed Now is not the time for shyness. A successful solopreneur needs to network with a purpose. How do you do that? Explore your local Chamber of Commerce, look for neighborhood-based business groups, volunteer with a local non-profit whose mission complements your
business. Facebook and Meet-Up, with some creative searching, can help you find like-minded individuals and potential clients. And don’t forget LinkedIn! LinkedIn is a valuable space to promote your services to professionals. At least two people sign up for LinkedIn every second, maximize your potential to connect where it counts. But please, ditch the elevator pitch. Let your conversations grow organically.
Journalist Angel R. Ackerman is president of Thrive Public Relations and a new member of Lady Boss.
Key Reasons To Use LinkedIn By Darnell G. Davis
Create awareness and improve reputation. Thought leadership and influencer marketing. LinkedIn is an ideal platform to increase your online presence. With more than two professionals signing up on LinkedIn every second, businesses have the opportunity to network with an increasing number of interesting contacts. Using the different personal and group features in LinkedIn, companies and the people representing them can all improve their visibility and credibility, both as individuals and (thus) as a brand.
Several LinkedIn features allow you to position yourself as leaders in a particular domain. From providing high-quality content, improving your personal profile and participating in LinkedIn communities to answering questions: the network is fertile ground for thought and practice leaders, aiming to become trusted advisors. Leadership and reputation go hand in hand with influence. As the main purpose of LinkedIn is networking, it also enables you to identify and engage other influencers.
Selling and generating leads. LinkedIn is probably the best network to generate leads. On top of traditional techniques such as mentioning interesting content potential customers can download or driving traffic to relevant sources, LinkedIn offers very personal ways of identifying potential leads, engaging them and turning them into customers. This is done by a good combination of listening, analyzing, participating, sharing, networking and responding. Networking with potential clients and marketing to them indirectly through LinkedIn will increase the opportunity to make sales

Currently, she is putting together product lines and preparing for an official launch in the near future. As an avid environmentalist, she uses recycled goods where possible. Freeze Dry Inc is a small family owned and operated company. We started with freeze dried fruit chips “Chipmunk” in 2013 and throughout the years added to our assortment new brands and new types of freeze dried snacks . We make freeze dried snacks at our facility by hand. First, we make real ice cream from scratch using local ingredients whenever possible. Then ice cream is getting shaped in to small pieces and freeze dried using unique technology. Freeze dried ice cream is light, does not have to be refrigerated , is not perishable, melts in your mouth and taste just like real ice cream. That’s why it could be sent to space for astronauts. Try it and love it! :)

I like to think of the real estate business as just not being about achieving top dollar for my client, but also as finding them the forever home of their dreams. Business is personal, you must know and understand what your client hopes to achieve and what will make them smile at the end of the day, be it a seller, a buyer or a renter. I will help guide you through one of the biggest decison in a person's life and help you reach your target whether it is a certain selling price or that man-cave/she-shed you always wanted.

“Ever since my work in Tajikistan - I am no longer content to work on things that make people’s lives that are already good a little bit better. I want to be a part of work that makes a meaningful impact on the lives of those who need it.”
Coming to the Lehigh Valley, Melanie Trammell-Wenger was delighted to find many organizations dedicated to making the world a better place. However, many of these groups felt unequipped to advance their mission in the digital space and did not have the infrastructure or budget to hire a new employee to do so. Thus she founded Melanie Trammell-Wenger LLC that redesigns websites for these world changers. She’s the one you call when you have big, gnarly problems that hinder putting your website to work for your mission. Through User Experience Consulting she will: Identify the website’s pain points Point to what the site should be like Illuminate how to get there Also need someone to also build the website once the plan is in place? She does that too.

O, it happened again. You lost the best candidate to the competition. You believed that you and your fellow decisionmakers were being thorough. Vetting meticulously.
Narrowed the field: are you interviewing more than 4 qualified people for an open position? If so (and especially if you have already interviewed excellent talent) you are doing your company — and your Explaining the position clearly. career a huge disservice. You assumed that the candidate “Overloaded with Options” will would wait for your return be a constant theme in your phone call and then jump at the hiring strategy and you will opportunity, once offered. You never get the talent you need/ thought wrong… want. If decision makers are fearful, unable or insecure about Everyday, I speak to frustrated making bad hiring decisions, get recruiters, who seethe with sourcing and selection process disgust at their failed staffing training, fast! conquests. Here are the most common complaints… If you Furthermore, consensus-based find yourself speaking these hiring decisions can backfire words, heed the advice below! when unanimous approval is required. So consider these We should have… questions: Are decision-
makers empowered to hire an exceptional candidate immediately? And if those conducting interviews do not have that authority, should they be part of this process? The answers to these questions may reveal pitfalls in your process. Gone full throttle: make no mistake, there is still a war going on for the very best talent. If you like an applicant, other companies like him/her, too! It’s the recruiter’s job to establish a strict, time-sensitive, structured hiring process. The recruiter should receive feedback/ follow-up within 24 hours of an interview. And a goal date should be set for final decision. Recruiters can utilize automated systems with calendar tools and evaluation forms to simplify the process for all hiring managers involved. Been more available: being over-booked, under-staffed or out-of-town are just excuses for pushing off or breaking interview appointments. If the candidate must meet with several staff members, interviews should be scheduled back- to-back during one visit, whenever possible. And if all else fails, hey, it’s the 21st century! Every hiring manager should have access to a computer with Skype, Google Meet and Zoom capabilities for virtual meetings. Or, at the very least, access to a phone for a phone interview. Candidates cannot easily take off of work for multiple meetings. Don’t drag out the process…you’ll increase the chances of your top choices getting other offers.
Accurately defined the role: there’s nothing worse than interviewing with three different people within an organization and hearing three different job descriptions. What a turn-off for the potential hire! After all, confused, uncertain leadership is usually a telltale sign of corporate chaos. If you want the best candidates to leave with a favorable opinion of your firm, it is vital that everyone involved in the hiring process sign off on the job responsibilities, reporting structure, interdepartmental functionality, etc., before posting a job description! Shown him/her the money: with shrinking budgets and higher overhead, many corporations are bargain-hunting for talent. But hiring managers take note: the very best, highly skilled and experienced professionals know what they are worth and will not settle for less. If you believe
that your firm is only as good as the quality of its employees, you must keep pace with salary trends and set competitive compensation benchmarks. Sung the praises of our firm: every company has a unique set of attributes developed to attract potential employees. From the casual, laid-back culture to the corporate gym membership, from lateral career opportunities to company store discounts, speak truthfully but enthusiastically about what makes your working environment unique and enjoyable. The bottom line is to target your best potential employees, respect their time, inform them accurately, communicate with them regularly and don’t let the good ones get away!
