Publisher’s Letter
WELCOME I’ve waited a long time to say that and it feels pretty good! The idea to the premiere issue of to have a book or magazine has KATWALK PLANET! been on my mind since my teen years. Back then I didn’t have any ideas or concepts to bring to the table.
Five years ago, I was in a local bookstore deciding on which magazine to buy when the concept hit me. My mind said, you can create a magazine and make a difference and without hesitation I left the newsstand and went to the business section. After thumbing through a few books, I purchased a book on taking your business to the next level. Each time I tell this story it still makes me laugh at the thought of buying that particular book when I had no business at all to take to any level much less the next level. Over the years I have completed the worksheets and read that book at least a hundred times. So, after five years of name changes, ups, downs, family & friends thinking I am ignoring them & acting socially rude… I am so proud to say welcome! As I write this letter to you all I am filled with overwhelming emotions & I am so HAPPY!

I have to thank a few people who helped this project come to life or just patiently stayed out of my way. I know that everyone always says God and I am no different. Of course I am too :) God truly is an awesome God. God cleared every obstacle from my path and brought the right people in my life. He gave me peace of mind. Every time I wanted to quit and sometimes I did, God would whisper to me “I got you”. Two years ago, I got to a point where I was pondering my magazines fate. I took out a quarter and before I flipped it I spoke with God. I asked for the strength that if the quarter landed on heads then I would not complain of possible failure or defeat anymore and I will put my whole heart, mind, body and soul into bringing this baby to life, but if the quarter landed on tails then I would quit trying to chase this dream and never look back. After saying that I flipped the quarter and for what seemed like thirty minutes was only about three seconds I finally removed my hand and a feeling of calm came over me and I was at peace with my decision that I would be going on with the path God laid out before me. It seemed strange, but I think I needed a sign and I got it. That quarter sits on heads on my desk today as a reminder that God has got me and a reminder of the promise I made to him.
I also thank my parents, Larry & Rose Mosley, who had no idea I have been working on this project for years, but they would have supported it as they do with everything I do. My brother, Larry Mosley, Jr., my number one photographer (photo to left with me). He has been down with me from day one. My sister-in-law, Charletha and my niece, London, for their support as well. My team and of course our supporters. THANK YOU ALL! My hope on this exciting journey is that you not only absorb this magazine or not only enjoy what’s going on between these pages, but that you stay connected and become a katizen of Katwalk Planet. I mean that, I want your feedback. We want you to join our online community and connect with us on Facebook, Myspace and Twitter. This magazine is for YOU! So SUBSCRIBE and share with your family and friends cause this is not just your voice… it’s a movement. A voice can only be heard, but you can’t stop a Movement!www.katwalkplanet.com

is labeled the record company who does what they want cause it’s the right thing to do.
Started in 1996 and resurrected in 2009 by four very talented and determined entreprenuers, Edward (Ol’E) Walton, President, from Huntsville, Alabama by way of Alaska, DaJuan (Natural High) Johnson, Vice-President, from Huntsville by way of Detroit, Michigan, Darreon (Kinomo The Great) Kennemer, Consultant from the Indian Creek area in Huntsville and Omar Swygert, Business Manager from Huntsville by way of Brooklyn, New York.
On a cold and snowy January morning in Huntsville, Alabama We interviewed President, Edward, and Vice-President, DaJuan in preparation for this article. They told us they wanted to control their own fate which is why they started a record label. Edwards says, “There are a lot cats who talk about having a label, but I believe a label has to be earned. I been in the game long enough and I feel that I deserve to have my own label”.
Prymetyme Records does rap that is off the beaten path of mainstream music because people go through what they go through and you don’t have to be a gangsta to live life. Above anything else they are Hip Hop. They just might be more aggressive. The label has T.C., Ms. NuNu, D.J. MLG, Pollo 13, Kinimo The Great and R & B Artist, Rafeale Randell signed to them.
The latest CD released from the label is Tailor Made for Gangstas was a group effort because the label means more than being solo artists. Edward and DaJuan agree that this album is a good movement because it is based on what they all have gone through.
In 2009, Prymetyme Records moved over 700,000 units in downloads and spins.
The only female on the label, Ms. NuNu, is a native of West Phillie. Edward and DaJuan describe her as “A real hungry chick, one of the strongest pieces to their puzzle, very dedicated, has her head on straight and is definitely about her business”.
When Edward first moved to Huntsville around age 12 one of the first people he met was fellow label mate, T.C. A few years ago Edward was on an Album, Subliminal Chapter 1, and didn’t know that his friend, T.C., was also until they ran into each one day and they have been recording together ever since. T.C. is described as “A great producer and the heart or the main ingredient”.
As the interview takes place Edward and DaJuan engaged in a side conversation about some Polo boots in which Edward demands that DaJuan tells him the boots he is wearing are his size so he can get them. DaJuan replies with, “Man you know it is cold out”! They have a laugh and suddenly remember that an interview is taking place. They both say, “My bad”. Everyone has a laugh and the interview continues. To Edward and DaJuan this paragraph will come as a surprise, but it was truly a real moment that had to be shared.
Cont. p. 12

Once back on track the discussion shifts to Dokk Savage. Edward Recalls a time when the two of them took on about 30 MC’s together and when they opened for 2 Live Crew in 1997 and believes they work well together and get the product done.
Kinimo The Great basically is the benefactor of Prymetyme Records. He started the label in 1996 and has always kept it real. Prymetyme Records would still be an idea if he didn’t pave the way. He is the most important piece to the entire thing.
Omar Swygert is the Business Manager for Prymetyme Records. He makes sure they get their money. He is described as “Fair and Spiritual”.
The future of Prymetyme Records is to grow a non-profit organization, drop the album Tailor Made for Gangstas and make sure each artist is happy with many more projects to come. Their ambition is to bring sound to the people.
Edward says, “I truly believe we can’t be touched, don’t wanna sound cocky. Men and women lie, but numbers don’t. Jay-Z said it best. We think singular, but move collectively. We move as a group, you think on your own, but we move as one. That’s the only way we gonna grow”.
When asked if there was one thing to remember and take away from this Edward and DaJuan reply with:
“Prymetyme Records ain’t for everybody, but we are a family and everybody should strive to be like that. Our things are loyalty and respect and if you don’t we will deal with that too. Respect The Movement. Don’t get your feelings hurt”.

Premiere 2010 Featured Artist JL
are the initials and stage name of a blessed and talented artist named Julius Lett. JL has been a singer & musician since the age of 11 and been writing songs since he was 15. He decided recently after seeking wise counsel that it was time to give the world a taste of his flavor. JL has been playing the drums since he was 12 and the piano since age 14. He says, “I often try to decide which one I love the most but I can’t; All I can say is that the drums were my first love”.

The first artist he ever heard was Mahalia Jackson’s version of “Precious Lord Take My hand”. JL recalls, “My grandmother sang it to me as she bounced me up and down on her knee in our quaint little house in Prichard, Alabama”. JL lives in Atlanta, Georgia now. When you purchase JL’s music you get love. Not just a fire beat or a nice melody. You get a mixture of old school love with new school R & B flavor creating the perfect musical recipe. It satisfies your appetite for love and leaves the soul wanting more. Success to JL means that an individual has reached a point where they are doing what they love to do and are able now to bless others.
The future for JL holds a great legacy of excellence in music, philanthropy and giving God and the world the best of him. JL says, “ I will impart love and respect for marriage and relationships in the world through my music”. JL believes music needs to be resuscitated and believes most of the music being produced sounds like somebody else. Most R & B music is about sex, heartbreak or cheating and some songs have no point whatsoever. JL says, “Love has slowly become the absentee father in R & B and I believe this is partially due to the passing in recent years of some of the greatest musicians and writers of our or any generation such as Luther Vandross, Barry White, Michael Jackson and so many others. Some pay homage to them, but I think most have forgotten them already. With that being said, I believe there is a movement in the Indie section of the industry that will put music back where it needs to be while still progressing in musical creativity. We need real musicians to do what they do”.
When JL is not writing or making music he seems to always be singing. He loves spending time with his family and feels they are the coolest group of people he has and will ever know. JL’s family supports him with their whole hearts and he supports them in everything he has and is. He loves to spend time with God and chill with friends. He also enjoys promoting and marketing himself and his music. He loves to listen to Luther Vandross, Luther Ingram, Usher, R-Kelly, Tank and of course himself. JL’s philosophy is that music comes from God and since God is love he believes that love should always be a part of it. Every gift and every ability is something that should be cultivated, developed and given back to the world. JL’s last words for Katwalk Planet are “May God continue to bless you and everyone else”. You can hear samples of JL’s music on the homepage of katwalkplanet.com.
