WE’RE SOOOOO

BACK!!

It’s been 18 months since the last Everything Electric SYDNEY and we’ve clearly entered a transformative era. In the last show programme, I wrote that electrification “is a megatrend that will ‘trump’ even the most antagonistic of nationalistic leaders” but earlier this year that prediction looked premature. In fact, when we deferred the show by 6 months, it was because the battery electric ecosystem was bereft of confidence, but fast forward to September and Australians are buying 3 times more BEVs than before. Politics has played a pivotal role in that. The invasion of Iran supercharged ‘electric’ demand, as Donald Trump inadvertently became the world’s best PR man for EVs, batteries and solar, but politicians aren’t all bad. Federal Ministers like Chris Bowen have created a positive climate for electrification with policies like the Cheaper Home Batteries Programme. But as “embittered Brits” who are about to see our own ZEV policy dismantled, a word of warning: the job is not done. Through our adventures in Australia, we have had the good fortune to work with an array of incredible ‘electroheads’, striving daily to educate end-users about the #CheaperBetterBatteryElectric future at their fingertips. These heroes – too many to mention, but many of them are with us at the show – continue to strive, and they are 100% right to do so. Australia has momentum, and as we have seen in the UK slowdown, these moments must not be wasted. Make hay while the sun shines, and remove any lingering doubts while you can. We envisage Australia overtaking the UK in the next 12 months, and accelerating onwards, as the technological benefits of connecting solar, EVs, batteries and bidirectional technologies, positively transform your lives.

NEW FOR 2026, for the first time at Everything Electric SYDNEY, we’re introducing a dedicated Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) Zone, sponsored and led by Amber Electric and BYD.

Vehicle-to-Grid is one of the most exciting developments in electrification, turning compatible electric vehicles into much more than a way to get from A to B. With bidirectional charging, the energy stored in an EV battery can potentially be used to power your home or send electricity back to the grid. But how does it actually work? Which cars can do it? What equipment do you need? And could V2G help households get more value from their EV? The new V2G Zone is the place to find out.

ASK THE V2G EXPERTS Experts will be on hand throughout the show to help explain everything from compatible vehicles and bidirectional chargers to home energy integration, costs, savings and what needs to happen before V2G becomes commonplace. The V2G Zone is designed to make this rapidly developing technology easy to understand and relevant to real households.

HEAR FROM THE PEOPLE MAKING V2G HAPPEN Alongside the displays and expert advice, there will be dedicated V2G talks throughout the day, exploring the technology, its potential and what it could mean for Australian households and the wider energy system. Hear from industry experts, technology leaders and people with first-hand experience of V2G, covering everything from how the technology works and common misconceptions to the latest developments in vehicles and charging. Sessions will also explore the real-world experience of V2G, the opportunities it could create for EV owners, and what needs to happen for the technology to become more widely available across Australia.
