SHOW PROGRAMME 2025

LIFT-OFF AT LAST? AFTER A TOUGH THREE YEARS, ARE THE GREEN SHOOTS OF GROWTH EMERGING?
One of the pleasures of living a ‘fully charged’ life is that we get a window into what EV and cleantech uptake looks like all over the world. Whether it’s Norway’s nearly 100% of new cars being electric, China’s incredible rise to being the world’s biggest electric car maker, or as we experienced first-hand a few weeks ago, what felt like a ‘mainstream’ moment as we welcomed >30,000 attendees to Everything Electric SYDNEY – many of whom had never heard of the Fully Charged Show, or even Robert Llewellyn (sorry Robert). But back here in Britain, we have seen some serious challenges for consumers and industry alike since the last Government elected to scrap the plug-in car and home charger grants 3 years ago. In fact, it’s fair to say that while we were neck-and-neck with the Netherlands new EV uptake then, our trajectories diverged. While it accelerated to ~35%, the UK stalled at ~15% for more than 2 years.
The good news though is that new EV sales in the UK increased considerably over the last 9 months – a 25% market share is not unusual nowadays, and year-on-year that share is likely to grow over the coming years as the current Government gets ready to reinstate its 2030 ZEV deadline.
And in even better news, the used EV market is gaining grip now, and a combined total of 570,000 used and new EVs sold in 2024, meant that the UK market is moving towards 1.5 million battery EVs being on the road. We are confident that battery EV uptake will only quicken as used EVs are on average £2,781* cheaper than ICE cars, growth to date has been achieved with very few new cheap cars and slew of cheaper new EVs incoming. What’s more, whether it’s new or used, the average saving over the term of ownership is £5,850* (per car), much more for high mileage drivers lucky enough to be able to charge at home. Additionally as more than 93%** of EV drivers will never go back to combustion engines, and an increasing ‘network effect’ as more EVs are visible on UK’s roads, the trend to battery EVs is only going in one direction. Great news for what has been a beleaguered industry.
*For full details, download the Cost of Driving Electric report which can be found in the Data-Driven section on ElectricVehicles.UK | **As taken from the 2024 Fully Charged SHOW ‘Big Survey’
But it’s not all good news, the UK’s economy has acted as an anchor on the sectors in which Everything Electric operates. We love cleaner technologies, but stretched household incomes have seen home energy technology companies – the bedrock of our exhibitor base – really struggle of late and the latest tragic casualty of that has been perennial favourites Ripple Energy. This sadly means that we have less of these types of companies at Everything Electric LONDON than last year. Rest assured it remains critically important to us. Furthermore, while we have a great line-up of EVs at the show from some 20+ brands, we do not have the level of manufacturer participation we have seen in our latest shows in Canada (31 OEMs) and Australia (36 OEMs) and we largely attribute this to economic pressures unique to the UK, however in a few instances we confess to being completely ignored by some manufacturers. We are not sure what the solution for this is, but we wanted you to know that it is not for the lack of trying on our part, and that our exhibitions are very cost effective to attend. We will redouble our efforts ahead of Everything Electric SOUTH, where we have been told to expect some significant electric car launches.
In any event, we are still offering by far and away the biggest opportunity to eye, try and buy EVs of all shapes and sizes, and cleantech too, supplemented by a whole host of action-packed visitor attractions:
■ Up to 8,000 multi-brand EV Test Drives
■ Giga Theatre | Live EV Arena | Home Energy Arena EV Test Drive Experience | Everything Electric Theatre
■ Micro-Mobility Test Track | Kids Zone
■ Business Day (Wednesday Only) | Commercial Vehicle Zone.
And as ever, we can’t wait to welcome you to an electrifying day out this Easter!
