Red Lodge, Montana

Springtime in the mountains with lush green

grass and big skies—we love the texture of the colorful Spring florals in contrast with the softness of the hand-torn silk ribbons. The Beartooth Mountains are laced throughout the wedding with fun elements from the grand views to the tiers on the cookie table to the graphics on the stationery and the gentlemen’s tie clips. The bride did a few boudoir snaps in her garter before bridesmaid’s photos in matching floral robes prior getting into their dresses; the bridesmaids mix and matched their gown style in the same hue. Cookies were served instead of cake. A place for all the pretty things

The

minimalist approach in this wedding allows the beauty of scenery to shine and makes impactful statements where needed. We love that the only flowers that appear are in the bride’s bouquet, which include two lilies that represent the Bride and Groom. The groom was surprised in the first look when the bride decided she wanted to be holding a horse when he saw her. Small gold accents add, elementally, to the nature inspired dÊcor in a subtle and thoughtful way adorning the single elongated table, which enhances the intimacy to the closest friends and family who attended their wedding. 12

Mallory & Dan Glacier National Park, Montana

Taking place in iconic Glacier, this wedding

weaves glacier blue tones throughout its theme. We love the floral ties and pocket squares, with the groom’s set apart in ivory, and how they pull the floral arrangements through in a pleasing aesthetic. The couple made it “Montana” with a fun signature cocktail, Huckleberry Lemonades— yes, please—and giving a selection of local goods as favors. Agate slices were used as place cards for at the reception and were pulled cohesively into the design of the gorgeous wedding cake, flourished in glacial-hued mountain ranges and a geode. Inspiration

Sunsets in Spring bozeman, montana

This stylized photo shoot was envisioned in

admiration of the sunsets that grace Montana in the springtime—the skies look like paintings. The floral arrangements are as large as Montana with many locally sourced greens and flowers. Montana truly is the last best place, with its scenery creating art. This shoot embodies the rustic magnetism of the West and the refinement of the city by including beautiful handiwork from several downtown shops that represent Bozeman’s distinctive charisma. With custom reclaimed barn wood elements and the glamour of the Yogo Sapphires—mined exclusively in Montana—this shoot laces the two together saturated in as much inspiration as our big sky.

T

he antiquity in this Western ranch wedding is lovely in its authenticity. The bride wears vintage Native American turquoise jewelry—including an iconic squash-blossom necklace. The tables are set with various textured and patterned linens adding a wonderful eclectic effect with the mix of antique bottles and candelabras. We love the muted palette with western tones and that the Bridesmaids’ dresses were made by a Montana company that creates clothing from repurposed fabrics. The boots featured are also Montana made one-of-a-kind pairs.

After

a church ceremony, the reception takes place in a round barn. A mix of round and rectangular tables set the space for dinner which has a complexity to the design. We love the balance this creates—and how four quite different centerpieces add height, depth, and texture to the tables. Barnwood tables are adorned with a corresponding runner and chairpads to match the round tables in linen, paired with the classic cross back chairs, setting up a gorgeous fusion of venue-supplied pieces and supplementary rentals for large weddings. The deep red napkins tie them together, creating that cohesive aesthetic. Wheat accents combined with the cookie theme gives framework about the couple and their lovely barn celebration. 36

While

mountain rudiments run throughout this themed wedding, adventure adds an exciting atmosphere. The black and white palette couples timelessly with a secondary design palette in blues and greens exclusively for the bridal party. We love the classic white wedding paired adventurously with black and mountain-inspired hues. The bridesmaids mix their gowns while the groomsmen match in their suits, creating another lovely contrast. The couple explored by hiking in the mountains with friends during their wedding week. In their wedding ceremony, they used water from two different lakes from separate exploits, committing to each other—their greatest adventure—as sewn into the groom’s tie. Planning—Your First Step C ongratulations,

you’re engaged! Now it’s time to plan the single most important day in your life. The first step—prior to setting a date, reaching out to that photographer you have been following on Instagram, or shopping for the perfect shoes—is establishing your wedding budget. It may not the first thing you want to think about, but your budget clarity is absolutely necessary for so many reasons.

establish your budget Set your wedding budget as early as possible to initiate clear communication between the couple and both families, and realistic expectations of who is responsible for which costs. Never assume someone will or should pay for your wedding. Instead, engage in a conversation with those can contribute and in what specific ways they would like to. Total all contributions, in addition to what you and your fiancé have combined, for your overall projected budget.

prioritize Your next step is to choose a priority for your wedding. Do you want to emphasize fun, to have amazing food, or to document wonderful memories? The priority you choose as a couple gets first consideration in your budget, leads the vision for the day, and is the thing you will not compromise on.

Aplace placefor forall allthe thepretty prettythings things A

Once you know your budget and have set a priority, research the area or location where you plan to get married. Beware of generalized percentage budgets based on vendor type— they vary greatly and do not hold up in all vendor markets, Montana in particular. To further understand the market in the location where you intend to getting married, reach out to vendors in that area to see if your budget, priority, and guest count are a good fit.

your guest list You can have the wedding you want on any budget—but success depends on one major factor: your guest count. The number of guests is directly linked to your budget—for food and beverage costs, staff time, rentals, and so much more. The more guests, the more budget it will take to include everyone.

budget confidence Tackle your budget with three simple steps. Number one, establish your total budget, confident that you can have the wedding of your dreams, but you must stick to your priority for the day. When building your guest list, be sure it aligns with your budget and the priority of choice. And finally, align all three—budget, priority, guest list number—in the destination market where you intend to hold your wedding. Enjoy the process. Your wedding is going to be memorable, incredible, and so much fun!

Inspiration

Sapphire Devotion bozeman, montana

The brilliance for this stylized photo shoot

was inspired by the bold, rich colors found in Montana Yogo sapphires—ranging from soft blue to deep indigo. The fresh white space allows the palette to really shine and was the perfect setting for this modern design vision. The bride wears a gorgeous sequined blue jumpsuit with a detachable multi-layered skirt fashioned by photographer Ingrid Svare. Hand-dyed gauze runners adorn the tabletops with hand torn silk ribbons wrapping the bouquet. Flatlay shots present the pretty little details as style and cerulean hues come together to create a gorgeous sapphire dedication with stones and settings made by Montana. Paradise Valley, Montana Bright pops of yellow are riveting in this early

spring wedding and stand out against the scenery. The groom’s suit is set apart by a different color altogether, while the ties pull in a splash of uniformity. We love the bride’s detachable train and the mixed bridal party with a lady appearing on the groom’s side. The bride’s side is represented in a playful line up of jumpsuit and dresses each in a similar hue with varying patterns. The bouquets and boutonnières are a spirited contrast in an additional pop of spring color, tying all the patterns and texture together in a wonderfully whimsical fashion. 56

Coral Charm missoula, montana

Coral hues embellish this delicate inspiration-

al shoot. Gorgeous floral graphics emerge on the artfully crafted invitation and place cards on the reception tables, which coordinate with the “Coral Charm” peony blooms appearing in the bridal bouquet and additional floras. Making a statement in its vibrant show of color, the coral brings an unexpected element to the design palette and works beautifully in contrasting with the sophisticated classic blue, recently named color of the year for 2020. Lacy cake stenciling paired with lace table runners creates a cohesive look. Vintage elements—a stunning furniture lounge and blush glasses—and soft tones of the natural setting come together rousing charming inspiration. A place for all the pretty things

Timeless meets contemporary with a histor-

A local ice cream truck serves during the cocktail hour—who couldn’t love that at a summer wedding? Inside the barn, dessert and dancing take place. The subtleties make a grand statement. Antlers and banners baring shields reveal a lodge-like atmosphere based in modern antiquity. While the glassware reflects the green hue of lushness in the greenery and clear glass is contrasted in the tablescape to create a clean and concise aesthetic.

Cocktail Showcase

The Montana Mule

Add ice to a copper mug. Pour 1.5 oz. Montana whiskey over ice, add the juice of one lime, and fill up the mug with quality ginger beer. Garnish with fresh huckleberries, lime, and mint.

Choosing alcohol options for your wedding reception? Consider serving a few regional beers from one of Montana’s abundant micro-breweries. If you plan a signature cocktail, why not make it Montana themed? Include a regional liquor or whiskey from a Montana distillery. One of our favorite refershing cocktails is a regional twist on the popular Moscow Mule: the Montana Mule substitutes vodka for Montana whiskey. This exchange is sure to pleasantly surprise your guests. Serve in the traditional copper mug. For extra Montana flair, muddle or top the Mule with fresh huckleberries—a seasonal summer berry in the Rocky Mountains and local flavor favorite.

Inspiration

Copper and Candlelight Pony, Montana

This stylized photo shoot was forged in the venue’s name—Copper K Ranch. Inspired by the richness of fall colors, the palette casts moody hues. Dried stems were included throughout the floral arrangements—which is currently on trend—tying the fall scenery into the design. Deep reds contrast in the color palette while pinks work to soften it, producing a captivating color melt. Elements of copper accenting, from the flatware and tumblers to the pipes hanging in the stonework arches and the stunning stamped pottery with a patina finish flush with evening’s golden light—and the champagne tones of the bride’s gown—to compose a luminous vision for inspiration. An urban wedding held in a restaurant in

the historic downtown area delivers a pleasing industrial atmosphere. The inviting backyard, with vining greens and art murals, creates a charming space for an intimate ceremony. A mingling of bright floras—inspired by wildflowers—modern lines, and softly textured linens is a fresh take on an imaginative and thoughtful celebration. We love the collection of traditional table pieces in contrast to the pops of color, quirky modern furniture, and art. The artfully textured cake is striking in its craft and mirrors the unexpected: the bride and groom walking each other down the aisle.
