CORPORATE PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Play a leading role in helping us to inspire, educate and entertain!

WHAT WE DO

The Everyman Theatre – Gloucestershire’s pre-eminent theatre –a centre for artistic excellence with an award-winning education and community programme.

The Everyman Theatre believes passionately that creative arts have the power to transform lives.

Our Education and Community Department is long established with a reputation for excellence and is much admired for introducing the magic of live performance to generations of children and delivering impactful outreach projects within our community.

As a registered charity, our operating profits are re-invested in expanding our growing education and community outreach programme, maintaining our historically important theatre and producing in-house and touring productions.

“The Everyman Theatre is one of the true gems of Cheltenham and I am proud to have been on the board for 20 years! They always have an excellent selection of productions and we thoroughly enjoy supporting them. With quality of productions and community outreach equally powerful drivers, the Everyman has a huge variety of accessible options.”

OUR VISION

To create and develop a brand new creative arts Education Centre for Cheltenham, with community at its heart. We aim to make unforgettable and life-enhancing creative experiences available to everyone!

THE NEED

We know the impact we bring to people’s lives through exposure to the arts but the ability to expand and develop our education and community programme is constrained, both by the lack of available space in a busy working theatre, but also by the perception amongst many of the groups we seek to engage, that the theatre and performing arts is not for them. Being in a readily accessible, central location in Cheltenham which offers less imposing, relaxed and welcoming surroundings will help to dispel this view and promote inclusivity.

“You could see their confidence growing each week… the feedback demonstrates how worthwhile these sessions were to our guests.”

The Festive Big Sing with Cheltenham Open Door

“If you’d said last year, I’d be on stage singing with a choir I’d not have believed you but here we are. Social anxiety makes it difficult… but there is literally a place for every voice in the EveryVoice choir. No one is free from personal troubles… we’re like a family.”

OUR GOAL

To create and develop a brand new dedicated creative arts education centre to serve as a permanent base for the theatre’s growing community work. It will act as a launch pad for transformative new work engaging hard to reach communities in Cheltenham. Our aim is to provide equality of access to creative arts by providing either free or heavily subsidised, affordable projects for less advantaged children, young people and adults, to help combat loneliness, improve wellbeing and mental health, foster social networks and support our vision of making performing arts accessible to all.

Proposals include running additional youth theatres and choirs, dementia friendly projects, such as a memory café and choir, school holiday provision for children and families, workshops for local community groups, including creative youth work projects for young people at risk of exclusion, a Gujarati & Bangladeshi Women’s Dance group, social prescribing creative workshops via NHS referrals, as well as providing a free or low cost space for local emerging artists, community groups and arts and culture charities to deliver activities or rehearse.

THE STORY SO FAR

In 2024 the Everyman Theatre was offered the opportunity to purchase a community centre in Grove Street in the heart of two of the most economically challenged areas in Cheltenham.

“The Everyman is a well-known Cheltenham institution… The potential to engage with some of the more deprived communities in St. Paul’s through art is a positive.”

“My experience of working on outreach projects in that area has been very positive. There are lots of groups in West Cheltenham that really need resources like this.”

Feasibility Study External Interviewees

Our targeted community work ensures we are engaging proactively with a wide demographic but we know there are large sections of our community who still have limited or no access to creative arts. We aim to overcome some of the barriers, by establishing a base in the heart of those communities. The previous owners were adamant that the building should continue to serve the local community and were keen that the Everyman, with its proven and

successful track record for creating meaningful and impactful education and community projects, should purchase the centre.

Following a feasibility study and discussions with existing stakeholders, community partners and local residents, we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback and interest in our vision for the building.

WHY PARTNER WITH US

The building in Grove Street is in a reasonable state of repair but will undergo a complete renovation to become a welcoming, fully accessible and vibrant creative arts education hub. This will include creating more functional activity spaces, significant improvements to energy efficiency and to the external façade, with landscaping to create an inviting green space.

We have been successful in securing most of the funding needed to refurbish the centre but we now need the support of local businesses, organisations and individuals to bring our creative vision to life.

“Partnering with the Cheltenham Everyman Theatre has significantly enriched our CSR initiatives. This collaboration has allowed us to support the arts and engage with our local community in meaningful ways, aligning perfectly with our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility. The Everyman Theatre’s dedication to fostering connections, addressing the critical needs of specific populations, and enriching lives through the arts resonates deeply with our ethos. Together, we are creating lasting value for our community and embodying the principles that define Crowe UK.”
