Welcome The Everyman Theatre’s Aladdin.

Welcome to 2025 and another exciting season packed with entertainment at the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham. We’ve just drawn the curtain on our pantomime Aladdin, which once again played to packed houses, welcoming over 42,000 holiday revellers and receiving rave reviews. This year, we supported Cheltenham Open Door as our pantomime charity and raised almost £20,000.

Thank you to everyone for their donations toward this vital service for the citizens of Gloucestershire.

Looking ahead at the new season, there are so many highlights that it’s hard to choose just a few for you. I am delighted that we have secured a week of Martin Shaw’s acclaimed star turn in A Man For All Seasons (page 6). We are also pleased to have the work of Terence Rattigan gracing the Everyman’s stage once again when we present a double bill of his work starring Nathanial Parker and Dame Siân Phillips (page 4). The dramatic highlights continue in April when we present The National Theatre production of Alan Bleasdale’s Boys From The Blackstuff (page 20) and a new stage adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express (page 28).

Musical theatre fans will not be disappointed as the new season showcases some of the most amazing singers and dancers in productions such as Dear Evan Hansen (page 30), The Rocky Horror Show (page 8) and the award-winning hit musical Bat Out of Hell (page 18) showcasing the greatest hits of Jim Steinman and Meat Loaf. We’ll also be welcoming the return of Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers (page 50), Matthew Bourne’s mesmerising

The Midnight Bell (page 32) and a brand-new production of Friends – The Musical Parody (page 48). Tickets are sure to sell fast, so don’t delay.

We’re very proud of the work we do with communities throughout Gloucestershire. In addition to Arts Council England and Cheltenham Borough Council’s support, most of the income needed to provide these valuable services is provided by the money you help us raise through our ticket sales. We plan to expand this work in the new year and are currently working on plans to open a brand-new space. This will enable us to deliver more work for children, young adults, and community groups. We hope to provide more news about this exciting development very soon.

In the meantime, I would like to wish you a belated Happy New Year and thank you all for your support. I would also like to thank the incredible staff at the theatre, who work so hard to deliver the best experience possible, and our Board, who take so much time to offer their professional advice and support to me and our management team.

The atmosphere at The Beauregard Private Hotel, Bournemouth, is marked by a blend of repressed emotions and post-war gentility.

Each of the staff and guests has their own reason for seeking the solace of quiet anonymity, but trying to hide from the social and cultural change sweeping over the country is proving impossible.

Meanwhile, in the heart of the Midlands, the end of the school term brings to a climax the intrigues, deceptions and lies in the lives of its teachers. The ensuing implosion of classicist Andrew Crocker Harris’s career triggers the collapse of his marriage.

Terence Rattigan’s one act masterpieces Table Number Seven (from Separate Tables) and The Browning Version are paired for the first time, capturing one quietly momentous evening seventy years ago.

Together, they confirm Rattigan as one of the great twentieth century chroniclers of the paradoxes of the human heart.

Directed by Olivier and UK Theatre Award winner James Dacre, an ensemble cast will perform both plays, led by Olivier Award winner Nathaniel Parker and BAFTA winner Dame Siân Phillips.

The Rocky Horror Show Ready to thrill you with fun and naughty moments, Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical, The Rocky Horror Show returns to Cheltenham as part of a new world tour.

Having been seen by over 35 million theatregoers, The Rocky Horror Show is the story of two squeaky clean college kids–Brad and his fiancée Janet. Introducing The Three Counties Talent Hub

The Three Counties Talent Hub (3CTH) is a brand-new collaboration between Malvern Theatres and the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham.

We start with a newly commissioned play by a local playwright, which will be performed in Malvern (30th April & 1st May) and in Cheltenham (2nd & 3rd May).

This ambitious development programme aims to identify and foster new professional performers and writers based in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire and offer them a platform to showcase their work to a wider audience.

Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures company return to Cheltenham in 2025 with The Midnight Bell after a sold-out run in 2021.

In 1930s London ordinary people emerge from cheap boarding houses nightly to pour out their passions, hopes and dreams in the pubs and fog-bound streets of Soho and Fitzrovia.

Step inside The Midnight Bell, a tavern where one particular lonely-hearts club gather to play out their lovelorn affairs of the heart; bitter comedies of longing, frustration, betrayal and redemption.

Inspired by the great English novelist Patrick Hamilton (Twenty Thousand Streets Under The Sky, Hangover Square) who created some of the most authentic fiction of his era; stories borne out of years of social interactions with the working man and woman at his favourite location - the London Pub.

When April calls around to see Mom with an ulterior motive, it forces Marion to visit her painful past.

This is a comedy show about risk, for people unsatisfied with how things are going, by multi award nominated comedian Alexander Bennett.

When the fallout from her previous life crashes into the present day, it threatens to ruin their already shaky relationship. Set in Birmingham in the 1970s and present day, with a soundtrack to match, Honest Lies is a domestic story full of warmth and humour which charters the emotional cost of parenthood and celebrates the strength and resilience of women everywhere.

Emotional Daredevil

Alexander Bennett’s comedy has been variously described as dark, silly, filthy and thoughtful. He is the co-host, along with comedian Andy Barr, and creator of the high concept Chortle Award nominated podcast Born Yesterday. He has performed his shows on the West End at London's prestigious Soho Theatre. This show is recommended by the British Comedy Guide and had a joke featured in The Times' top jokes of the Edinburgh Fringe.

Phoenix is a whirlwind ride that shines a light on the darker aspects of relationships and explores how we might cultivate healthier relationships with ourselves and each other.

Set to the razorsharp beats of a live percussionist, Phoenix uses spoken word poetry, movement and good old fashioned storytelling to explore the messy joy of being alive. It'll grab you by the heart strings and won't let go until the last beat has been drummed.

Helen Percival is a RADA trained actor and writer. Manu Joste is an international percussionist.

An experiment to separate virtue from wickedness in his own nature results in the respectable Dr. Jekyll releasing the demon within: a malevolent force which will eventually possess him body and soul.

Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic story has enthralled and fascinated the world for more than a hundred years...Perhaps because a Mr. Hyde lurks deep within us all, watching and waiting...

Gruoch: The Lady Macbeth Gruoch is a feminist, myth-centred examination of the bereaved and abused girl who became Lady Macbeth as an act of revenge for the death of her father.

She did indeed manipulate Macbeth to kill Duncan, but not through vaulting ambition... this "icon of evil" may be the power behind the throne, but as the only woman left alive, her power is used to avenge.

A new solo performance, written by David Calcutt and performed by award-winning actor Caroline Burns Cooke.

The Silence of Snow: The Life of Patrick Hamilton The true story of the author of The Midnight Bell.

Mark Farrelly (Quentin Crisp: Naked Hope, Howerd's End, Jarman) presents his riveting, kinetic solo show portraying one of the great English writers of the inter-war years.

Patrick Hamilton was a dazzling success in his twenties, producing hit plays Rope (filmed by Hitchcock) Gaslight (which gave us the modern term 'gaslighting'), and classic novels The Midnight Bell, Hangover Square and The Slaves of Solitude.

Little Women

Splat is a physical comedy about Art and Creativity for ages 3-6.

Popular Shropshire based Hotbuckle Productions are bringing their latest adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women to theatres and venues across the country this Summer.

Set in an artist's studio, the show follows two aspiring artists, one dedicated and serious, the other erratic and messy. The two characters attempt to complete their masterpieces while antagonising each other before realising that they can achieve anything by embracing their opposites and working together.

The show explores themes of collaboration, play, dedication, spontaneity and letting go.

Written in 1868, it has received several movie adaptations as well as television series, plays, radio dramas and musicals. One of the most iconic American novels ever written, it continues to be a source of inspiration due to the exploration of girlhood, family and female ambition.

But Hamilton was also an alcoholic, whose wit darkened as his inner and outer worlds collapsed.

The show features no language and is accessible for deaf audiences.

Andrew Cleyndert Quartet: Straight Ahead Brazil

Jackie Oates is synonymous with the reinvigoration of English folk. Her mellifluous voice, plaintive fiddle and tantalizing approach to traditional songs gained her several BBC Folk Awards.

As Wreckless Eric he needs little introduction – he wrote and recorded the classic ‘Whole Wide World’ and had a hit with it back in 1977.

Chris Wood is a truth seeker in a world of soundbites and distractions. He permeates his writing with love and wry intelligence, uplifting and challenging as he celebrates the sheer one-thing-afteranotherness of life.

A contemporary approach to Brazilian harmony. Andrew is ably supported by Nadim Tiemoori Tenor, Tim Lapthorne piano, and Joel Barford drums.

John Spiers has made a name for himself as one of the leading melodeon players of his generation. A key part of the multi award winning Bellowhead and also well known for his recent work with Peter Knight.

Since then it has been a hit for countless other artists including the Monkees and Green Day. As Eric Goulden it’s a little more complicated with him releasing twentysomething albums in forty-something years under various names.

His albums encapsulate pop, bubblegum, garage trash and psychedelia.

His live performances are a sonic journey through time and space.

This is a rare chance to see him play in such an intimate venue.

Winner of six BBC Folk Awards, he's played with The Royal Shakespeare Company and was a key member of The Imagined Village along with Billy Bragg, Martin, and Eliza Carthy. A wise and soulful craftsman, his concerts are a cliche-free zone.

The Box Office is open Monday-Saturday for phone bookings 9.30am-6.00pm and in person 9.30am-7.30pm, unless there is no performance, in which case we close at 5.00pm.

Refunds/Exchanges: We do not refund tickets, (unless the show is cancelled or there is a major change to the production) so please check carefully when booking. We will exchange tickets for another performance of the same production, if available, or, if we have sold out we will offer to resell your tickets; however we offer no guarantee of sale. In both instances 48 hours notice is required and there is a fee of £2.00 per ticket.

One free ticket (main house only) for the carer of a person with disabilities who cannot attend events unaccompanied. Proof of eligibility in the form of a DLA or PIP certificate is required (except for wheelchair users or the registered blind) when collecting free carer tickets.
