Tyson and Jenna

Dear Birth Mom,

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our profile and consider us as your adoptive family. We are Tyson and Jenna and we are so excited about the possibility of partnering with you!

You have no doubt been on an incredible, and most likely unexpected, journey that has brought you to this point. While we have never experienced the process of carrying another life inside of us, we have walked alongside many of our friends and family while they have done so and have witnessed how exhausting, exhilarating, and confusing the entire undertaking can be. Your body seems to be taken over with incessant aching, endless fatigue, and an unshakable sense that you are no longer in control of what it does.

To know that you are willing to endure this for 9 months to allow another family the joy of parenthood is living proof of your grit and generosity.

We both have known for a long time that we are called to adopt. Before we were even engaged, we both expressed to one another our deep longing to share our love with any child that will allow us to do so.

As you navigate these next days and months, please know we are sending you so many thoughts and prayers of peace, wisdom, and strength, and we hope you are able to find the perfect family to entrust your child to.

We wish you the very best,

The Larsons

Our Story

We love our story. Jenna was on an extended fast from dating and had decided to dedicate her time to returning to school and becoming a nurse One evening, Jenna’s mom called her to say she had seen the picture of “the most handsome man” who just happened to be the nephew of her co worker and they thought we sounded perfect for each other. Jenna immediately declined what she was sure would be a convoluted mess. As fate would have it, Jenna had an 8 hour road trip with her mom that weekend and by the end of the drive, in defeat, She said “Fine! One date”. It was agreed that Jenna’s mom would give Tyson’s uncle Jenna’s number and Tyson would text if he was interested in meeting. After a week of silence, Jenna told her mom that it was for the best and it was time to move on with her life. A few days later, Tyson’s uncle made a comment about how disappointed Tyson was that Jenna hadn’t texted him back Jenna’s mom mentioned that Tyson had never texted Jenna to begin with. After a few moments of confusion, they both realized that Jenna’s mom had given Tyson’s uncle the wrong phone number to pass onto Tyson! Within minutes of this realization, Tyson texted Jenna to ask her to dinner. We sat on main street until 2:00 am talking about anything you can imagine. We kissed 8 dates later, said I love you 6 months later, and Tyson proposed marriage at the top of a mountain during sunset 1.5 years after meeting.

About Jenna

Tyson's thoughts about Jenna

Without question, Jenna will be the most incredible mom anyone could ever hope for She has such an overabundance of love to give and has patiently waited for years for an opportunity to give that love to a special child She constantly prioritizes the well being of those around her Jenna is also very perceptive of how people are acting and can respond to their needs and make them feel seen and appreciated, which I believe would greatly improve any relationship between a parent and child. She is incredibly hard working, self motivated, and can conquer anything she sets her sights on Jenna can make quick decisions under pressure, and I love how she is always willing to jump in and help me out in a moment’s notice, no matter the situation She is so kind and compassionate and being loved by her is a life changing experience that I wish every child could have She is intentional about giving compliments and encouragement to bring the best out of whoever she interacts with Jenna also loves to laugh and she is the best adventure partner because she makes everything fun and exciting!

Career

Initially, I planned to dedicate my career to portrait photography However, after a couple years in the field, I could never shake the feeling that I had chosen the wrong career path. I never felt fulfilled, instead often wondering how I was benefiting society and how I could serve my community on a daily basis The answer didn’t come easily, but after a few years of exploration and job shadowing, I found my calling in our local emergency department. Being an ED nurse is messy, loud, and chaotic I spend a majority of my day dodging bodily fluids and sometimes punches But life is messy, loud, and chaotic and it is full of humans who are struggling On their worst days, these humans come to the emergency department and I get to serve them in very tangible ways. You never know what the story of your next patient will be, but regardless you get to offer them a reprieve of kindness and generosity It is such an incredible feeling

About Tyson

Jenna's thoughts about Tyson

From the moment I met Tyson, I have known he was created to be a dad Tyson’s personality is caring and patient, extending generosity and empathy to everyone he meets. Though many have described him as quiet, in reality Tyson practices intentional listening as he recognizes a majority of humans feel unheard He takes in every detail shared with him and is able to perfectly recall conversations he has had years ago with interest and insight Many friends and family members, including myself, seek Tyson out as a sounding board and a giver of wisdom, knowing he will undoubtably make himself available to listen to anyone in need. For many years, I was known as the cool aunt to my nieces and nephew, hearing them chant “Aunt Jen Jen!!” whenever I would arrive for a visit However, this changed once I introduced them to Tyson Now when we arrive, all you can hear is shouts of “Ty Ty is here!” and the sound of little feet running to the door to see him However, I can hardly be jealous as I watch them throw their arms around Tyson He makes each of them feel seen, listening to each of their stories and looking at each of their latest creations with genuine interest Long after I have tired of playing tag or jumping on the trampoline, Tyson continues to literally run and jump, sparing no antic to make the kids laugh. In much of the same way, Tyson leaves everyone he interacts with feeling happier and at peace He is such a wonderfully unique and beautiful soul, dedicated to selflessness and generosity I cannot wait to watch as he shares all of his love and gifts with a child

Career

For the past 8 years I have worked as a civil engineer, largely focusing on private land development and subdivision designs, municipal water and sewer systems, and utility coordination for road improvement projects I am currently licensed as a professional engineer in Washington and Idaho. In school I was always interested in math, science, and engineering, and was intrigued by the fact that civil engineers get to be out on project sites often One of my favorite elements of this profession is the balance of mixing number crunching design work with field inspections and coordinating with contractors on project sites, because I get to see the plans on paper develop into tangible things such as new streets, water treatment systems, and building additions I very much enjoy the fact that a large part of my work is to improve infrastructure that can benefit a huge number of people on a day today basis

Our Family

Jenna’s immediate family consists of her mom, Karen, dad, Rick, and sister, Jill, as well as Jill’s family which includes husband Christian and their three children Karen and Rick live approximately 45 mins away, allowing us to partake in frequent Saturday night dinners and helping one another out with the never ending projects that seem to appear Jill, Christian, and kids reside on a small ranch in Wyoming, making it more challenging for the family to see each other However, with a little planning, we are usually able to reunite 1 2 times a year, trading on and off who travels to see one another. Our family loves to laugh and laughing comes easily when we are all together. Christian is usually the activities instigator, coercing the adults into things like sledding parties and bottle rocket building contests. At least once a visit, we schedule a family game night which inevitably results in too many snacks and someone snort laughing For a time during her single years, Jenna lived in Wyoming with Jill and Christian and served as a live in nanny for their oldest daughter during her toddler stage While already close, this bonded Jenna and her niece deeply and both still text and call each other whenever possible After the next two siblings were born, Jenna continued to spend most of her vacation time in Wyoming with her nieces and nephew, getting to fulfill her dream of being the “fun aunt”. Whenever it’s time for another visit, you can be sure there will be water fights, t shirt painting, and even a treasure hunt or two. Tyson’s family is a beautiful cumulation of blended families with an intense capacity to love. His mother, Brooksie, lives 1.5 hours away, is full of energy and always seems to be up to something involving water and boats. When Tyson was younger, Brooksie decided to return to school to complete her education to provide a better life for Tyson and herself Immediately there was an abundance of family members who wanted to shower Tyson with love and attention while supporting Brooksie in her goals His grandma and grandpa, Bill and Violet, opened their home to Tyson, which was conveniently located on the same property as Tyson’s aunt, uncle, and cousins Tyson often refers to these cousins as his siblings as they share all of the memories and life experiences that usually only siblings do Their property was located out in the country next to a canyon which provided an endless supply of adventures for the growing kids As most of this family lives within driving distance, we are able to see them a couple times a year for holidays and birthdays, always forming new memories.

Our Pets

We are slowly growing our little farm and have a fun variety of animals who bring so much color to our home. Kip, our 7 year old, 10 pound Chiweenie, is a rescue that Jenna adopted in 2016. While Kip came from a hard life of neglect and abuse, she and Jenna bonded immediately when they met, soon becoming inseparable. Tyson quickly won Kip over once she realized he was far superior in providing belly scratches and warmth. She spent the first nine months of her life sharing a home with small children and continues to be infatuated by little people whenever she meets them We also are home to two barn cats, Captain and Rackham, a small flock of hens who provide us with endless laughs and eggs, and a pond full of koi fish. As we have been so lucky to have so many loving animals in our keep, we also hope to own cows and goats once we have built adequate shelters for them.

Our Home

Earlier this year, we were lucky enough to purchase a 1906 farm house on 9 acres of land, equipped with a shop, greenhouse, chicken coop, garden, and two ponds connected by a miniature waterfall. We are surrounded by the rolling farm hills of the Palouse as far as the eye can see. We boast two sets of neighbors within a mile radius of our house, both of which are wholesome families with children and grandchildren of their own Our home is within one hour driving distance to Spokane, WA, and Moscow, Idaho, both very different communities that offer a plethora of diversity While smaller in size, Moscow is home to the University of Idaho and is known for its robust student exchange program and dedication to the arts. This combination allows the community to profit from a vast collection of cultural opportunities while also receiving cultural input from Moscow’s long time residents In contrast, Spokane is Washington’s second most populous city and feels like a metropolis compared to Moscow. It boasts access to state of the art healthcare, shopping, and numerous other resources Both Tyson and Jenna work in Spokane and some of Jenna’s family resides in Moscow, allowing us to call both communities home. There are also several smaller farming communities closer to our house such as Oakesdale, Tekoa, Rosalia, and Palouse, each which are home to multi generational farming families and new transplants looking for simpler living. All are known for their schools that offer smaller classrooms and vigorous community support for sports.

As Jenna works as a nurse, she has a unique schedule that allows her to work only 3 days a week. We have arranged our work schedules to allow Tyson to stay at home during those days with the intent to avoid using a daycare/nursery, instead being at home with our children
