Thesis Research
Internships often lead to thesis projects, professional connections, and future employment opportunities.
MES students complete a master’s thesis on a topic reflecting their interests, professional goals, or emerging research. This process fosters a specialized expertise and an interdisciplinary perspective on environmental issues.
Located in Washington’s state capital, MES students have access to internships and applied learning experiences with state agencies, Tribal Nations, nonprofit organizations, and other regional partners. Strong alumni and community partnerships help students build professional networks and explore meaningful environmental career pathways.
It is not required to have a thesis topic or faculty connection when applying. Students will receive support choosing their research focus and be paired with a faculty advisor.
