Flexible Grey College With over 25 years experience in hosting a wide variety of residential conferences, banquets and day events the College is the perfect venue to ensure that your event is a unique and memorable experience.

Set in its own landscaped grounds Grey also offers magnificent views of the spectacular World Heritage Cathedral, in particular the view from the elegant panelled dining hall is breathtaking. In addition to being only a 15 minute walk away from Durham city centre and all of the attractions it has to offer, Grey is also a great place from which to enjoy some of the nearby local attractions.
A dedicated service, tailored to your needs
Grey has a dedicated team who will closely consult with you to ensure that the venue is tailored to meet your particular requirements.
As well as having a purpose-built conference facility and a wide range of other on-site conference rooms, Grey is also within easy reach of the University’s central lecture theatres. Any event can be easily supplemented with these additional facilities as well as those of nearby colleges ensuring that you have unrivalled scope to create your ideal event.
Facilities include the purpose-built Holgate House, a combined residential block and conference centre ideal for residential conferences, seminars and training courses. Holgate House has 93 single and four twin en-suite rooms. All of these rooms provide a hairdryer, radio and tea/coffee making facilities.
Grey College: A truly spectacular setting Grey College is ideally situated to offer easy access to the historic City of Durham as well as the many attractions of the surrounding coast and countryside.
A flexible & adaptable approach for any occasion
Relax with a stroll around the Botanic Garden, take one of the many walks around the Great High Woods, or visit the Oriental Museum and experience its collection of art and architecture. County Durham - Land of the Prince Bishops - is bursting with attractions ranging from the world famous Beamish Museum, the internationally acclaimed MetroCentre, Barnard Castle and Bowes Museum, Castle Eden, High Force, fabulous coastal trails, Roman castles, ruins and forts.

Additional to Holgate House there are standard single and twin rooms situated in three other blocks offering excellent accommodation with shared bathroom facilities.

Whether you want a lunch time finger buffet or formal dinner in the elegant dining room our team will ensure that the menu is tailor-made to suit your requirements. Grey has 10 meeting rooms which can accommodate a variety of requirements and styles ranging from an interview for two, theatre style for 120, boardroom for 30 or a banquet for 250. There are various recreational facilities including an outdoor tennis court, indoor badminton court and table tennis table, a chapel with a grand piano and a fully licensed bar. Grey offers free on-site parking and with easy access by road from the A1M, rail to Durham Station or air to Newcastle or Durham Tees Valley international airports.
