We are proud to once again host one of the Korn Ferry Tour’s premier events, where many of golf’s brightest young stars compete during a pivotal stretch of the season on their journey to the PGA TOUR. The Evans Scholars Invitational is about more than great golf. Every shot played this week supports the Evans Scholars Foundation, helping provide full tuition and housing college scholarships to deserving youth caddies. #TOURBound: Keefer’s Historic Victory at The Glen Club
Johnny Keefer arrived at the 2025 Evans Scholars Invitational as one of the hottest players on the Korn Ferry Tour. He left The Glen Club with a PGA TOUR card, a tournament scoring record and his name firmly etched into championship history.
The former Baylor standout dominated the field from the opening round, firing rounds of 65-63-61-69 to finish at a tournament-record 26-underpar 258, breaking the previous championship record by one stroke and defeating Jeffrey Kang by two shots.
Keefer’s week featured one of the finest performances in tournament history. His bogeyfree third-round 61 matched the course record, vaulted him to a commanding lead and highlighted a week that included four eagles, the most by any player in the field. By week’s end, he had become the first player in championship history to reach 26-under par at The Glen Club.
The victory carried far greater significance than a trophy. Keefer’s second Korn Ferry Tour title of the season secured his #TOURBound status, officially locking up a 2026 PGA TOUR card with seven events still remaining in the Korn Ferry Tour
season. The win also moved him to No. 1 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List, a position he would never relinquish.
Keefer’s rapid ascent through the PGA TOUR Pathways system had begun just one year earlier. After finishing No. 25 in the 2024 PGA TOUR University Ranking, he earned status on PGA TOUR Americas, where he claimed the season-long Fortinet Cup with one victory, four runner-up finishes and nine top-10s in just 10 starts. That breakthrough earned him Korn Ferry Tour membership for 2025.
His rookie Korn Ferry Tour campaign quickly became one of the most impressive in recent memory. In addition to victories at the Veritex Bank Championship and the Evans Scholars Invitational, Keefer finished No. 1 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List, earned both Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors, and set the Tour’s single-season scoring average record at 67.95.
Today, Keefer competes full-time on the PGA TOUR, joining fellow Evans Scholars Invitational champions Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Young and Harry Hall as players who used success at The Glen Club as a springboard to golf’s highest level.
CADDIES TO COLLEGE
All proceeds from the 2026 Evans Scholars Invitational will benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation and its mission of awarding full tuition and housing college scholarships to caddies.
Founded in 1930 by the Western Golf Association and legendary amateur golfer Charles “Chick” Evans Jr., the Foundation is the nation’s largest scholarship program for youth caddies.
A record 1,260 Evans Scholars were enrolled in 27 leading universities nationwide for the 2025-26 academic year. Candidates must have outstanding records of academics and caddying, as well as character/leadership and financial need.
Evans Scholars are known for their academic excellence, graduating at a rate of 98 percent and maintaining a cumulative 3.3 GPA.
