First Midwest Bank is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Evans Scholars Invitational.
WELCOME FROM THE WESTERN GOLF ASSOCIATION
W
elcome to the 2021 Evans Scholars Invitational presented by First Midwest Bank. We are proud to be hosting this championship for the third time, partnering with the Korn Ferry Tour and The Glen Club to provide a stage for golf’s future stars. This has been a challenging year as we deal with the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’d like to thank the Tour as well as state and local officials for working with us to ensure that we could host a safe event this week. We are thrilled to welcome spectators back to The Glen Club, where some of the game’s best young players are set to compete for a spot on the PGA TOUR. You may recognize many of the players in this field from our Western Junior and Western Amateur events. Combined with the BMW Championship, the Evans Scholars Invitational ensures that we are staging elite championships at every level of competitive golf. Most importantly, this event gives us another opportunity to raise funds for the Evans Scholars Foundation, which provides full tuition and housing college scholarships to deserving youth caddies. There are 1,045 Evans Scholars at 19 leading universities nationwide this year, and since 1930, more than 11,320 caddies have graduated as Evans Scholars. All proceeds from the Evans Scholars Invitational will support these hardworking young men and women. Thank you for joining us this week for the 2021 Evans Scholars Invitational, and enjoy the competition. Sincerely,
Kevin Buggy Chairman

WELCOME FROM THE KORN FERRY TOUR
O
n behalf of the PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2021 Evans Scholars Invitational. The Korn Ferry Tour is thrilled to once again bring the next generation of PGA TOUR stars to the greater Chicago area, and compete at The Glen Club. As the Korn Ferry Tour continues its 32nd year and this oneof-a-kind super season, we cannot thank you enough for your continued support during these unprecedented and reflective times. This period in our history presented a tremendous challenge for our tournaments and our business, but golf emerged from uncertain times with a higher popularity at both the professional and recreational levels. Along with our players, partners and fans, we continue to show that sports can be contested within this ever-changing landscape, providing entertainment and a sense of normalcy. As we move forward, we are excited to continue the tradition of the Evans Scholars Invitational. Last year, Curtis Thompson held off Jimmy Stanger and Will Zalatoris by a single stroke for his first Korn Ferry Tour win, and he will have a chance to defend his title this year. Curtis is one of several players battling for a spot in the top 25 of our 2020-21 points standings, which will ultimately determine who earns a PGA TOUR card this August. We would like to thank the Western Golf Association, the membership and staff at The Glen Club as well as our many tournament sponsors and partners for their continued support. We also want to express our sincere gratitude to the entire Chicago community for their tremendous support, as well as the many tournament volunteers who unselfishly give up their time in order to make the event a success. Enjoy the Evans Scholars Invitational as you watch the game’s next generation of PGA TOUR stars! Sincerely,
Alex Baldwin President Korn Ferry Tour 2021 Official Digital Program

A BREAKTHROUGH WIN Thompson experiences that winning feeling at the 2020 Evans Scholars Invitational Two years ago, Curtis Thompson had given up on professional golf. After just four made cuts in 13 starts on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2018, he lost his status and was back at square one. He stopped his pursuit and began caddying for his sister, Lexi, on the LPGA Tour and at home at Pinetree Golf Club. Fast forward two years, and Thompson earned his redemption moment with the biggest win of his career at the 2020 Evans Scholars Invitational. The 27-year-old birdied his final hole to edge Will Zalatoris and Jimmy Stanger by one stroke in an emotional conclusion to a draining week.
“I just never thought I would be back here again and I definitely never thought I would be talking to you guys about a win,” said Thompson. The win was the breakthrough moment Thompson had been seeking. His brother, Nicholas, is a past Korn Ferry Tour champion, and Lexi is an 11-time LPGA Tour champion. Prior to his ESI win, Curtis Thompson had posted eight top-10 finishes in 103 career starts without claiming a title. Now, he enters this week as the defending champion with a chance to play his way onto the PGA TOUR. 2021 Official Digital Program

Caddying is more than a summer job. To caddie is to learn about hard work, about people, about life. For Evans Scholars, the lessons learned from caddying help establish a foundation for a lifetime of future success. To all who help us send hardworking caddies to college, we say thank you.
