Partnered with Isaac Buxton and Ryan Clark we developed an architecture studio for Thomas Jefferson University’s East Falls Campus. We challenged ourselves to push the limits of our abilities by striving to create a meaningful and impactful addition to our university’s campus while meeting the standards of Net Zero. This required extraneous consideration for construction methods, R values, building code, materiality, energy usage, solar harvesting, and other passive design strategies. To further push the boundaries of our project, we also restricted ourselves to preserve all of the existing trees on site, emphasizing the importance of the campuses existing conditions. While sustainable strategies were a leading aspect of the project, existing conditions such as circulation played a major role in the formation of two masses that attract towards the central space of emanation while engaging with the surrounding context.

Located in Philadelphia on the corner of Ridge Avenue and North Broad Street; this financial education center serves as a hub for the families of Francisville and the surrounding neighborhoods. With the goal of combating the negative effects of an extremely gentrified neighborhood, Francisville Finance provides long time residents and new coming families with financial resources and access to resources that are commonly under utilized or undisclosed to existing community members. The surrounding facade displays the interior functionality and privacy through a wooden lattice that becomes more transparent as it travels down the building to public spaces.

The exterior courtyard and interior spaces invites members of the community to enter the ground floor cafe, wait for the bus, get lunch with a friend, or browse the catalog of financial resources.

Purposeful Plastic | This lightweight canopy transforms a Philadelphia ruin into a statement against pollution in the neighborhood of Strawberry Mansion.

Collecting polluted plastic and using it to turn a deserted piece of architecture into a covered space with variable programs demonstrates the power that recycling can have on a community and its environment.

Death Valley Research Center | 22 |

Working with Lola Lopez, Daniel Habeeb, and Paul Spence we aimed to create a functional and sustainable research center within one of the hottest climates of world. Located alongside the Eureka Dunes of Death Valley California, this atmospheric research center combats the extreme heat and dynamic environment with the use of strategic tectonic systems. Utilizing the plethora of sand on site for a 3D printed structure, the research center is efficiently designed to serve its designated 8 month time span and dissolve seamlessly into the natural topography of its surrounding dunes. The uniquely printed structural supports allow for airflow to travel within the building’s walls generating consistent passive cooling throughout the interior research and living spaces. To power the active cooling systems our researchers continuously harvest the 25mph wind with the use of 3D printed and adaptable bio-plastic wind turbines that surround the exterior perimeter on a track, allowing for effortless adaptability to the changing wind directions.

Drawing from previous concepts of material connections and contrasts, I began to develop this performance center.

Connecting Bethlehem is made up of three primary masses each designated to a range of functions including residential, performance, and public spaces. Throughout the design process, I focused on the connection between these masses along with the connection of local materials and site context. The existing ruin is used as interior and exterior walls as well as a threshold between the assigned programs. Emphasizing the connection of form and function is an exterior facade that mimics the interior programs and showcases a transition between recycled brick, locally sourced wood, and glass. Along with the use of local materials, the observation lounge frames a perfect view of the historical steel stacks creating a direct relationship with the surrounding context of Bethlehem Steel.

The Water Front at Anable | Partnered with Daniel Habeeb, this project re-imagines a former industrial site along the Anable Basin in Long Island City, New York. The project encompasses the conversion of the site into a comprehensive urban development featuring residential towers, educational buildings, commercial spaces, and art galleries. The design prioritizes functionality, with a focus on addressing practical challenges such as uncomfortable wind conditions, optimizing daylight exposure for interior spaces and neighboring buildings, and preparing for potential sea-level rise from the East River. Through strategic planning and sustainable design principles, the Anable Basin Renewal seeks to create a resilient and adaptable urban environment while preserving the area’s industrial roots.

Since moving to Philadelphia, my sense of community has continued to expand, along with my interest for history, equity, and urban development. My architecture degree and real estate experience will allow me to continue exploring these aspects of infrastructure while striving to create meaningful and impactful developments.
