Urban Knitting decorates local streets Fuengirola was filled with colourful knitted and crocheted items thanks to the Urban Knitting initiative promoted by the Sofia Opisto Finnish School in Los Boliches. The activity, which was supported by the town hall, covered urban furnishings in Plaza de la Constitucion and Avenida Jesus Cautivo in items which were exhibited until March 26. The Councillor for Foreign Residents, Katia Westerdahl, oversaw the placement of the decorations and said that the whole event had been a success. “People love what is being done” she said. “Many have asked how they can join knitting

Houston, Texas, in 2005, and has been carried out in several Spanish cities. Anything from doorknobs to benches, as well as statues, trees and lampposts can be knitted.
OAPs to visit Bolonia THE Town Hall has organised a trip to Bolonia, Cadiz, for local OAPs. The trip, on April 11, will include a visit to the ancient Roman city of Baelo Claudia and Tarifa castle, as well as lunch, a guide and a luxury coach. Baelo Claudia is in Bolonia, 22km from Tarifa, and was declared a National Historical Monument. It was an important financial location of the Mediterranean. The visit to the site includes a guided tour with actors in period costume, playing the parts of characters linked to the site which explain the historical and artistic transformations of the area.
