SAHRAWI CHILDREN ARE WELCOMED ‘HOLIDAYS IN PEACE’, a project organised by the Almeria Friends of the Sa‐ hara Association, kicked off on July 29 with a for‐ mal reception for the group of Sahrawi children who have come to Alme‐ ria for the holidays. A total of 38 families from 15 different munici‐ palities have welcomed the children into their homes for the next six weeks. At the event, welcome packs full of gifts were given to the children, who received them excitedly. As well as spending their time enjoying games and activities in Almeria, the children have access to medical care and have already had their first check‐up with the Tor‐ recardenas paediatrics team. Almeria has been carrying out the pro‐ gramme for decades, and 2,423 children have been part of it since it began. “The children are politi‐ cal refugees and we have
