MARBELLA celebrated its patron saint, Saint Barnabé between June 6 and 12 and the event was described by the council as being a great success.

With processions, a fair, concerts and much more taking place, some 500 personnel including Local and National Police, Guardia Civil, Civil Protection, Firefighters and paramedics were on hand to ensure the safety of visitors.
Intended primarily as a religious event, the various brotherhoods took part in moving the statues around different parts of the city and there was a larger than normal turn out of visitors, not just local residents.
Prior to a solemn Mass on June 11, accompanied by the Municipal Band, acting Mayor Ángeles Muñoz took part in a ceremony to award the ‘Marbelleras de Honor’ title to Antonia Galiano and, posthumously, to Maribel Notario.
