Star-studded makeover

THE Local Government Board in Marbella has given the green light for the renovation and expansion of Hotel Guadalmina in San Pedro Alcantara.

With an investment of €55 million, the hotel will be elevated from a fourstar to a fivestar grand luxury resort, all while creating 250 job opportunities.

Announcing the news on Tuesday, May 23, Marbella mayor Ángeles Muñoz said that construction will begin immediately, taking approximately 1.5 years to complete.

Authorities praised Hotel Guadalmina’s international brand management, exquisite dining, and yearround availability. The hotel’s upgrade adds to the city’s impressive array of luxury accommodation, solidifying Marbella’s national and international reputation.

The hotel, originally built in 1959 and renovated in 1999, is set to undergo another significant transformation, including introducing convention halls, more diverse dining options, a spa, and other fivestar amenities. The hotel will also grow by 70 rooms and also aims to attract business travellers.

Hotel Guadalmina joins seven other local hotels which have used the regional government’s modernisation programme, making the Marbella city area the most popular with the initiative. The initiative shows the local government’s confidence in the city, approving multiple investment projects.
