Europe Day celebrates peace and unity in Europe and marks the anniversary of the historic Schuman Declaration, a speech delivered in Paris in 1950 by the then French foreign minister, Robert Schuman, in which he set out his idea of a new form of political cooperation on the continent that would make a new war between European nations unthinkable.
ALFAZ DEL PI Council is repairing both tennis courts at the municipal sports centre.
Work is expected to take one month to complete at a cost of €48,300 partly subsidised by Alicante provincial government. Work is focusing on restoring the surface of both courts to improve grip and technical performance as well as their appearance, according to Alfaz Town Planning councillor Toni Such.
Work will also include restoring the two paddle tennis courts at the sports centre as part of a larger project to restore a third one and build a fourth one, as well as building a new multipurpose court.
