FRENCH luxury devel oper Les Rivages has unveiled an ambitious urban art project that will redefine the skyline of Almuñecar.
Wall of wonder
‘Les Rivages de Almuñécar’, a monumental mural spanning three 12storey buildings, is set to become the largest vertical artistic masterpiece in Spain and Europe.
The sprawling artwork, covering over 6,000 square metres, will bring the sea and the enchanting promenade of Almuñecar’s Velilla area to life.
Renowned artist José Ríos has been entrusted with the task of transforming these towering structures into a captivating canvas.
Collaborating with the talented graphic design studio Basilisko, Ríos said that the artwork will incorporate a woman gracefully strolling along the beach into a natural landscape.
José Ríos, artist from Jaén, embarks on this momentous challenge of adorning the three towering buildings, aiming to beat his own record for the largest mural in Spain, currently located in Estepona.
A presentation ceremony for the project was held at Les Rivages’ Le Grand Large development on Friday, May 12.
The mural design was unveiled at the event attended by the mayor of Almunecar, local businesses, and property agencies interested in the progress of the mural and the luxurious Le Grand Large.
Spring clean
IT’S been a long time coming but the Salobreña Council has just finalised on May 17, a contract with the Paprec company whereby the latter, as of June 1, will be in charge of the street cleaning and waste collection service in the municipality.
These are important changes that will be implemented over the weeks, both in terms of personnel and the new machinery included in the agreement.
However, already in the first fortnight of next month, an increase in the workforce will begin to be seen and collection will be implemented on Sundays, which until now only took place in the summer season.
Mayor María Eugenia Rufino promised that “the first thing that will be noticed is in the number of workers, which goes hand in hand with the beach opening plan that is already being worked on.”
She is confident that local residents will see significant improvement in the service offered.
