ON Sunday February 5 PFC

Malaga Women FC travelled to take on fourth ranked Puerto de la Torre Los Morales.

This match had more yellow and red cards then we normally see and it’s understandable as it was a big match with playoff qualifications on the line. The question was always who would make the first mistake and possibly give the match away?

Brisa Sasson was given the first of what would become two red cards and automatic ejections from the match. But Puerto de la Torre was not able to convert PFC Malaga’s opportunity into points. However, in min 15 Sonia Fernandez was awarded a penalty shot putting PFC Malaga up 10 after a yellow was issued to Puerto de la Torre’s Noelia Salgado.

Following another yellow card to Jasmina Chamarro in min 35, there followed a second red card for PFC Malaga in min 38 when Leire Beitia was accused by the referee David Urbano of trying to stop Puerto de la Torre from scoring a goal, by using her hands. It became even bigger when the PFC Malaga Coach confronted Referee Urbano regarding him issuing a Red Card to Beitia and Referee Urbano issued Coach Martin a yellow card. tional has said that he wanted to quit football.

So PFC Málaga had to continue to play with only eight players for the rest of the match.

Urbano was not done and handed Puerto de La Torre’s Eva Rodriguez a yellow in min 75.

The goalie for PFC Malaga, Marina Jimenez became the hero of the match as Puerto de la Torre lined up to take a penalty shot that would have tied the match. Jimenez blocked the shot and every player from PFC Malaga jumped on Jimenez in celebration.
