UKRAINE FAMILY: Accommodation is urgently required for Oleksandr, his wife and children.
AXARQUIA CON UCRANIA is desperately looking for rent‐free or reduced‐ rent accommodation, ei‐ ther independent or with a host family, for two fami‐ lies for a minimum of three months. They are looking for locations with easy access to shops and transport. The first family of six in‐ cludes Oleksandr, a suc‐ cessful businessman who was living with his family in Kyiv. He and his wife Li‐ udmyla, who had just completed her psycholo‐ gy qualifications, fled the bombings around Kyiv with their three children and grandmother. Oleksandr was allowed to leave as he has a fami‐ ly to care for. They fled the city on foot as it was too dangerous to navi‐ gate the roads. Their cur‐
rent accommodation is only available until the end of April. Oleksandr said: “I never thought that I would have to try to start my life from scratch, but we must. I now want to rebuild a life in Spain, start a new busi‐ ness, and, when the time comes, help rebuild my own country with my family safe in Spain.” Accommodation is also needed for a family of three, Volodymyr, Svit‐ lana, and Svitlana’s 85‐ year‐old mother Galyna who before the war lived with their extended fami‐ ly near Kyiv. Galyna had heart surgery and a pace‐ maker fitted in February. At the outbreak of war the family found them‐ selves in the middle of hostilities. They moved to what was the safety of
Kyiv, but spent many tense nights in locked basements to escape the bombing. When a rocket fell in their yard they de‐ cided to leave for the Pol‐ ish border which is where they joined the bus head‐ ing for Spain. The war has meant that their family is now scattered. Their current accommo‐ dation is only available until the end of April. Those interested in helping should email help.ukraine.nerja@gmai l.com.
