One unique number THE Andalucian Health service SAS - has completed the work on a project that began back in February, that now sees all 1,512 of their health centres share the exact same unique landline telephone number extension on all outgoing calls from any of the Service’s Primary Care centres, which means that anybody receiving a call can immediately identify it as being from SAS. When anybody receives a call from 955 800 008, they can rest assured that they are getting a genuine call from the health services, because, until now, each centre used a different landline number, which did not instantly make the caller recognisable.

Improved lighting on the Balcon NERJA Town Council have approved two projects to improve the lighting on the Balcon de Europa, the Church of El Salvador and the passage of the town hall. The mayor of Nerja, Jose Alberto Armijo, an‐ nounced that the new lighting projects “aim to en‐ hance the tourist and historical heart of our town and achieve greater energy efficiency in public lighting.” He added that the lighting will “improve the image of our tourist flagship, the Balcon de Europa, and of the Church of El Salvador” consolidating the “Nerja tourist brand as a quality destination.” The project to install ornamental lighting around the Balcon de Europa and the Church of El Salvador has a budget of €107,315.63, which will be financed with the subsidy granted by the Tourism Council of the Junta de Andalucia.

DONATIONS: Of stationery have been collected. MAXWELL’S in Nerja has been collecting donations of stationery to be given to vul‐ nerable local children at the start of the new school year. The business has been col‐ lecting the stationery for sev‐ eral weeks and now has more than €330 of school es‐ sentials to hand out. Once collected, the Nerja Royal British Legion will hand the donations to the Nerja Solidaria food bank to be giv‐ en to local children and the drive is expected to help around 80 Nerja families.

The donations drive will last until the end of August, giving generous locals more time to stop by with stationery. Speaking about the dona‐ tions, businesswoman Melissa Maxwell said: “We didn’t know if it would take off but it has really flown.” She added: “Our post on Facebook asking for donations has really helped with people who are not even customers coming in with items.” The business is also now collecting toiletries and nap‐ pies for the food bank, and

according to businesswoman Melissa Maxwell, “we al‐ ready have donations for this one, so a very good start in‐ deed.” Any donations can be taken to Maxwell’s on 28 Calle Fray Junipero Serra, Nerja.

CHURCH AREA: Lighting will improve the image.
