QUALITY BEACHES
SIGNIFICANCE: The 15 Q flags “reflect what quality means for Calvia in general as a destination,” the mayor said. of Calvia’s beaches. This, he said, together with the quality recognitions, means the locality is “going to continue having beaches which give confidence to both tourists and to residents so that they
can enjoy them and so they continue to be the attraction for our high season at a complicated time.” The ICTE Q flags are based on the ISO quality standard and are recognised internationally. As the mayor pointed out, to gain the distinction there is an annual audit of the beaches covering a series of service on offer and environmental quality. The other beaches qualifying for the distinction this year in Calvia are Bunguenvília, Illetes balneario, Cala Contesa, Portals, s’Oratori, Es Caregador in Palmanova, Son Maties, Cala Vinyes, Ses Penyes Roges in el Toro, and Romana, Tora and Palmira in Peguera.
