AS we slowly progress through the de-escalation phases towards a n e w n o r m a l i t y, w e learn to be thankful for what we have currentl y, u n d e r t h e ‘ n e w now,’ a slight return to our old lives albeit under strict safety regulations. The sun is now shining down on us after weeks of unpredictable weather. With a majority of the country now in Phase 1, we have lear nt to appreciate the things we used to take for granted. Phase 1 allows us to go and visit friends and family in their homes, to give them a hug and tell them how much they mean to us in person after months of video calls. You can now take a long walk on the beach or in the countryside and take in the beauty of your surroundings after months of being pent up inside. You can pop into your neighbour hood businesses, shop, and con-

Despite having these new, more relaxed, measures we should be extremely respectful of the regulations in place. We have come a long way as a society to jeopardise our newfound freedom, and more importantly, the safety of those around us. Enjoy the new now, but be responsible. Turn off the Netflix and take a stroll outside, appreciate those around you and how far we have all come in this unprecedented journey. Most importantly stay safe.
