IN THIS TOGETHER
ONE of the most positive things to come out of the Coronavirus
lockdown has been an act that has allowed us to repurpose the word ‘balconing.’ A nightly occurrence t h ro u g h o u t S p a i n t o thank the outstanding war the health care workers are fighting to keep us safe. At 8pm every night the balconies are full of people, all currently living in fear of an unknown enemy, pushing their worries aside to come together in a beautiful act of solidarity. From the balconies comes a thundering
round of applause in an expression of gratitude to those on the frontline. Brave police officers, who have the hard job of enforcing isolation laws, also join in with their own way of thanking the public by flashing their lights and returning the applause. During this time of uncertainty and fear, we all need something to look forward to and the pandemic that has forced us apart physically has brought us together through our hearts with such community spirit.
Thanking the work done by health care workers.
