On the first Sunday of the year, the adored Magi toured the streets in all their splendour as they gave out gifts and sweets. Towns and villages in the Axarquia pulled out all the stops to make sure the most important date on the calendar was celebrated in style. In Nerja, the three wise men arrived with great pomp, as they travelled the streets which had been perfumed with orange blossom for the special occasion. Their Majesties of the East then greeted the crowds from
the balcony of the town hall, as singer Antonio Cortés gave a brilliant performance by the Nativity Scene. The parade in Velez-Malaga was a success, despite vandals causing damage to the floats a few days before the event. The broken floats were fixed up and children were able to enjoy the colourful spectacle, complete with animated music and dancers. Torrox hosted one of the longest Three Kings parade in Andalucia. DEPUTY MAYOR of Mezquitilla and Lagos, Juan García; the president of the Bahía de Lagos Association, Carlos Palacios, and his vice president Sara Melgares have announced the programme for the sixth edition of the Migas Solidarias de Lagos, to be held this Sunday, January 12. “An event in which the town of Lagos turns to a good cause and whose only ‘cost’ for the attendees will be to donate a kilo of non-perishable food, which will go to ATIS social dining rooms. It will be a Sunday of goodwill and coexistence between the residents of the town and visitors who come from other parts of the region,” explained the deputy mayor of Mezquitilla and Lagos, Juan García. The event will begin at 12.00pm with inflatable castles and children’s activities. From 1pm the performance of Coros y Danzas de Torre del Mar will take place, which will liven up the wait for the traditional dish tasting at 2pm. Attendees can enjoy the flamenco sounds of the Venetian artist Séfora with David ‘el Tomate’ on the guitar and music from Spanish pop-rock band Ñ-Clan. President of the Bahía de Lagos Association, Carlos Palacios, said that “Together we have managed to gather a wide variety of activities and attractions to spend a beautiful day of coexistence and brotherhood between residents and visitors, so from here we invite everyone to participate and collaborate providing 1kg of food.”
