IN a statement given to the judge in charge of the case, Sergio Ruiz has emphatically denied his involvement in the murder of Dana Leonte. Sergio has been in police custody since September 28 after bone remains were found that belonged to the Romanian Dana. Evidence was also found at the home they shared together and phone records of Serg i o ’s s h o w i n c o n s t a n cies in his alibi. In the latest questioning from the prosecution, Sergio has been accused of hacking Dana’s phone after the incident to cover up the crime. “It’s a total lie,” Sergio defended, “Dana always had really long passwords that I had no idea how to access.” During the interview, the prosecuting officer also unearthed evidence that on the day of Dana’s disappearance, Sergio said that he was in Velez-Malaga, however phone records analysed by the police show that he was in Arenas, near the scene of the crime. Sergio responded by simply saying, “Well, I don’t know, I don’t understand.”
