PSOE ISSUES HOMICIDE: Details emerge regarding the murder of Dana Leonte.
DANA DETAILS SCATHING: Manuel Chicón and Antonio Moreno Ferrer during the conference.
THE PSOE have heavily denounced the previous head of the fire department for ‘gross mismanagement.’ The provincial deputy of the PSOE, Manuel Chicón, denounced the previous PP head of the Provincial Fire Consortium, Francisco Delgado Bonilla for leaving the consortium with a trail of problems. A press conference was held on Tuesday of last week with Chicon and heads of the Provincial Fire Consortium (CPB) to
discuss the issues that currently face the delegation. Chicón explained that one of the last decisions of the outgoing president was the approval of a credit amendment of €1.2 million that received unfavourable support from Malaga Provincial Council, but still went ahead. “This irregular modification of credit meant that about 400 firefighters could not collect the bonuses or overtime since July,” said Chicón. “In short, Delgado Bonilla is in the eye of the hurricane be-
cause of his negligent management at the head of the Provincial Fire Consortium. The facts we describe leave the PP spokesman as a bad manager. As bad management made the front of firefighters as bad opposition is doing now here in VelezMalaga,” he added Velez mayor Antonio Moreno Ferrer also made a statement on the denunciation, in it he described “the two faces of Delgado Bonilla, he speaks of good management but does not reflect in his actions.”
Child support court action THREE relatives of Dana Leonte have taken legal action to ensure the protection of Dana’s child. Florín Leonte, Boean Doina and Ilie Monalisa-Claudia Leonte attended a hearing last Wednesday, October 2, to demand the protection of Dana Leonte’s child, Lucia, after the Junta de Andalucia decreed that custody would go to the father’s family. Family lawyer, Marcos García-Montes has explained that it is an extremely un-
usual decision made by the authorities. In a statement read before the Court of First Instance and Instruction No 4, Dana’s family have appealed against the ruling that left the care of the 10-month-old to the brother of Dana’s boyfriend. Dana’s brother Florin Leonte, has expressed a great desire to take custody of the child and move away from the Arenas area in order to help ‘turn over a new chapter’ away from the current situation.
MORE details are emerging in the case of the alleged murder of Romanian Dana Leonte. According to a police report released to Spanish media, the decision to jail the boyfriend of Dana Leonte, Sergio Ruiz, was made by the judge due to the ‘gravity of the facts’ and fears he would use his freedom on release to destroy further evidence of his guilt. Prosecutors have concluded from evidence presented during the investigation that Sergio allegedly ‘hit the woman at least once with a wooden weapon on the head,’ after which he concealed her and dragged her down the stairs to put her in a vehicle and moved her to another place ‘to hide her’ or ‘to kill her and hide her.’
Evidence to corroborate the story was obtained through police measures such as telephone tapping, geo location devices, testifying and collection of samples from various locations. It was also pointed out that Sergio falsified text messages supposedly from Dana, and upon investigation of the man’s property there was a strong smell of cleaning products. News of the emerging facts come as the town of Arenas announced three days of official mourning for the death of Arenas resident Dana. A minute’s silence was also held at 9am on Thursday, October 3, outside the town hall.
