Intrepid flight by two Andys FIVE days, 1,850 miles covered, 23 hours flying, 19 airfields visited, four countries, 280 litres of fuel. Those are the stats for two men who have flown from South Wales to Malaga on an intrepid voyage in a self-built light aircraft to mark the 27th anniversary of the D-Day landings. They then made the final leg of their flight to reach Malaga. Andy Hodder said: “A huge thanks to all of you from both of us for an astounding £3,000 raised for Help for Heroes.”
Andy, who lives in Alhaurin el Grande, added: “It was the best experience of my life. Absolutely fantastic. It was very special when we flew over the Normandy beaches.” He was born and brought up in Spain before returning to the UK and serving for 23 years in the RAF. “I then thought it was time to return to my roots - and here I am!”
PARTY DEATH: The Sala de Fiestas where the incident happened.
Boy dies after party A 19-YEAR-OLD boy has died following a party at a Sala de Fiestas in Torre del Mar according to police reports. The young man from Barakaldo was at the party with his family when he collapsed after apparently disappearing to be with his friends to consume alcohol. He was assisted immediately by a National Police officer and a nurse who were in the area, who performed CPR on the victim until emergency services arrived. Local Police sealed off the area and diverted traffic to allow the emergency services to access the scene outside the venue. He was transferred to the Regional Hospital of Axarquia after briefly finding a pulse in a critical condition; however he died shortly after in hospital. According to friends, the young man had consumed several glasses of alcohol in the room and had had ‘several puffs’ on a joint he had acquired from a friend. When asked by officers, the friends said they did not know if he had consumed any other substance during the night.
