Brits’ D-Day flight
CHARITY FLIGHT: Hodder (left) and Roberts (right) are commemorating the D-Day landings.
By Joe Gerrard TWO former British RAF pilots are set to fly from Britain to southern Spain in a selfbuilt plane to mark 75 years since the D-Day landings for charity. Andy Hodder and Andy Roberts are due to fly their Skyranger Swift II from Port Talbot in Wales to Malaga Province in August. They are
aiming to raise almost €2,170 for Help for Heroes. Andy said they would fly over Normandy to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day. His grandfather took part in the landings in June 1944. “We will be making some flights in his honour and memory while also commemorating the landings,” Andy said.
“We also wanted to raise funds for our modern day military heroes,” the pilot added. The flight is set to take them from Port Talbot to Dover to Calais, before flying west towards Normandy. They then fly south over the French-Spanish border, down Spain’s east coast before landing in Malaga Province.
