PROCESSION: Costa del Sol towns celebrated the Virgen del Carmen fiesta on Tuesday.
By Joe Gerrard MALAGA prosecutors have said they would be willing to suspend the two-year prison sentence of a 26-year-old convicted of killing a mugger who robbed a woman in Fuengirola. The prosecution’s willingness to review the sentence comes after Borja WV was jailed and ordered to pay €174,000 after being in a re-
Sentence review cent court hearing. Lawyers acting for Borja WV have called for him to instead pay a €250 fine every year for the rest of his life. Defence lawyers said he had acted as he thought he should have and regretted the death. The court heard the 26-yearold followed the mugger after
seeing him rob the woman while on his way to work in February 2015. He punched the man twice in the face, knocking him to the ground and causing a cerebral haemorrhage. He died two days later. Malaga City’s Ninth Criminal Court jailed him because he
had followed the mugger and did not wait for the police to arrive after hitting him.
