By Tara Rippin A MALLORCAN mountaineer began an ‘indefinite’ hunger and thirst strike outside Palma court on Monday to protest against alleged ‘medical negligence.’ Ramon Fernandez Corcoles parked himself on an orange cloth outside judicial offices of Via Alemania, where two years ago he reportedly denounced a doctor for suspected malpractice. He claims the case has personal links and relates to a family member, but has been delayed due to formal-
ities and is awaiting reports. Corcoles reportedly threatened to get naked in front of the courts on Mond a y, a n d p l e d g e d t o s t a y there as long as it takes, along with his trumpet and small Tibetan drums picked up along his travels. On his Facebook page, one supporter posted ‘thank you to you Ramon for your small but big struggles. I envy you. I wish we all knew how to do what you do, the world would be a different story.’ Thanking members of the public on his Facebook page, Corcoles said:
“Thanks from the heart those of you who have brought me coffee, water, watched my things, loaded the batteries of my mobile a n d o ff e r e d t o b r i n g m e coats, clothes and what I need. “What I say to everyone is, I’m not taking food or water. Your visits and calls is what makes me feel better. A big hug to all.” Corcoles is believed to have previously climbed a crane to denounce an alleged ‘persecution by a command of the Local Police of Palma,’ which is now said to be under investigation.
