Sex offender granddad convicted by Tara Rippin A PENSIONER from Palma has been given a sixy e a r, s u s p e n d e d p r i s o n sentence for sexually abusing three of his granddaughters. The 75-year-old admitted three ongoing crimes of sexual assault against

the young sisters at the provincial court yesterday, where the jail term was suspended for three years. The court heard the repeated incidents of abuse took place between the summer of 2015 and 2016, at his home in Palma, when the girls were aged nine, 12 and 15.

It was reported that he took advantage of the fact they were home alone with him while their mother was searching for work and a new home. During this time he watched the siblings getting undressed, kissed and touched them intimately, and showed them porno-

Illegal passengers held THREE people were arrested at Palma Airport yesterday (Wednesday) on suspicion of using false documentation, believed to be connected to a group detained less than a fortnight ago. On September 22, National Police detected three individuals, one of whom was carrying documentation for his fellow Albanian travellers, all destined for London’s Stansted Airport. On questioning, the carrier of the illegal papers claimed he didn’t know the other two alleged immi-

grants. On further investigation and negotiations with airlines, officers became aware of reservations made by people with links to those already detained. As a result, three people were this week located at the boarding gate for Stansted in terminal A, one of them a child. In total, four Albanians are being held on an alleged crime of forgery of documents, and a male and female of Italian origin face charges of ‘favouring illegal immigration.’
