Selfie terror plunge A 24-YEAR-OLD man from Durcal has died after plummeting more than 50 metres from a disused railway bridge while trying to take a picture of himself. The man, named as Jenaro Melguizo, was reportedly with his brother while driving across the Puente de Lata bridge on Friday. Melguizo is believed to have asked his brother to stop the car so he could step out and take a photograph. He did not return. His sibling then got out of the car to find him and instead discovered he had fallen off the bridge and into the gorge below.
It is unclear what caused the fall but it is believed the man was attempting to take a ‘selfie,’ or picture of himself. Melguizo was reportedly popular in his home town of Durcal, playing oboe for the local Amigos de la Musica de Durcal band and for an indoor football team. He was due to graduate with a degree in Art History from the University of Granada and also worked at a well-known local cafe. Family and friends were joined by other locals at his funeral. Relatives said he would be remembered for his passion and work ethic.
