SPOILER: The car was more than three times over the speed limit. By Harrison Jones Police radar has shown a car racing through Palma at 216km/h, breaking the record for the highest speed detected in the Mallorcan capital. The Mitsubishi Lancer was caught on camera at around 1am on Monday morning on a stretch of road to Soller - between the prison roundabout and Son Castello polygon - where the speed limit is 60km/h. According to Spanish media,
Speed demon Car caught 156 km/h over speed limit the 27-year-old driver contacted police to ask for a photograph of his antics, after he had admitted driving his father’s car. The red sports car, complete with spoiler, alloy wheels and a seemingly enlarged exhaust
pipe, is clearly visible in a police photograph. National Police had earlier charged him with a road safety offence, after locating the car in the San Oliva neighbourhood at around 2.50am.
It is allegedly not the first time the man has come into contact with police regarding his driving. He was caught speeding in September and October last year, according to reports.
Victim speaks out A RAPE and robbery victim told her harrowing testimony to a Palma court. The middle-aged woman was raped twice at knifepoint in her own home after being tied, gagged and sedated. She was woken by a fire raging in the apartment, and when firefighters and medics arrived she had almost died from smoke inhalation.
