Cheap flight plan TAXES on flights to the Spanish mainland for Mallorca residents are more likely to be dropped than a 75 per cent discount achieved. The newly established alliance between the Balearics, Canaries, Ceuta and Melilla to demand cheaper flights to the peninsula has admitted it may be forced to choose between the two options. The Alliance of Autonomous Communities has previously urged the government to both increase the discount from 50 to 75 per cent, and to provide a total 100 per cent discount on flight taxes.

Hundred of protesters gathered outside the courtroom early on Monday morning to voice their support for the businessman, considered the Godfather of Palma’s club scene. WOMEN’S rights groups have called for a special Balearic court to deal exclusively with cases of violence against women. The Balearic parliament has sent a request to the Ministry of Justice urging creation of the new court. The request was made as the parliament and Balearic presi-

dent Francina Armengol marked the International Day Against Male Violence. Gender violence in the Balearics is among the highest in Spain. Statistics show that 26.29 out of every 10,000 women on the islands have reported being physically attacked by their partners.
