Family desperate to save Brit firefighter in coma
WINNER: Maria Elisa Tulian (centre).
HELP NEEDED: Family desperate to get Alex medical care and back to the UK. By Matthew Elliott A British fireman is fighting for his life after suffering horrendous injuries during an incident in Magaluf. Alex Green, aged 26, had only been on Mallorca for six hours to celebrate his stag party when he was found unconscious on the street. The young father is in an induced coma at Son Espases hospital after undergoing emergency surgery. He suffered a brain haemorrhage, broken nose and a collapsed lung. It is still unclear whether he was assaulted or involved in a freak accident. Police have no record of any incident and no witnesses have stepped forward to shed light on what happened. The alarm was raised when he vanished from a
bar having gone to the toilet. One of his 25 friends on the nightmare holiday received a call from Green’s phone detailing his location and asking for help. The story has its positive side. More than €30,000 has so far been raised for medical treatment and to bring the Rochdale, Manchester man back to the UK. Friends and family set up a Just Giving page online to raise the money. As Green had alcohol in his system at the time, they expect his holiday insurance will refuse to pay out. All donations will be used for future medical care, which will be enormously expensive. The Just Giving fundraising page for Mr Green is at justgiving.com/crowdfunding/ant-unzueta.
