Paradise found By Matthew Elliott Mallorca’s place among the property elite was secured this week when Hollywood superstar couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie purchased a luxury villa overlooking the sea in Port d’Andratx. Covering roughly 900 square metres and boasting eight bedrooms, the affluent retreat is very difficult to access, allowing enhanced privacy for the household names. Confirmed by Italian real-estate tycoon Alessandro Proto, the villa reportedly cost €3.5 million and was discovered by Pitt as he holidayed on the island after shooting his latest film Allied in the Canary Islands. “Brad Pitt fell in love with the Balearic Islands after shooting his new film in the Canaries and that’s why he asked us to find him a house in Mallorca,” said Proto. With stunning natural scenery, turquoise waters, seclusion and serene locals, it’s little wonder Pitt found himself adding some Mallorcan soil to his expanding property empire.
The Hollywood couple, so marvelled at by world media they have their very own portmanteau ‘Brangelina,’ will undoubtedly bring their star clout to south west Mallorca, long associated with celebrity and luxury, and Port d’Andratx in particular. Having cultivated a stellar reputation for attracting discrete, artistic and extremely
wealthy A-listers, the island’s south west has garnered global acclaim for the smart and sustainable manner its property affairs are handled. Far less flashy than other
celebrity Mediterranean haunts, the area prioritises exclusivity and long term viability over quick deals and urgent developments.
