Young superheroes LEARNING new powers to help save the planet By Sam Croft With the Paris Climate Change Conference in full swing and environmental concerns everpresent in the global media, the momentum doesn’t seem about to slow down any time soon, and the trickle-down effect can be seen in environmental initiatives like the one about to head to Motril. The Campaign for Environmental Education about Climate Change is set to hit Motril next week. It is geared towards children between six and 12 years of age and aims to include youngsters from all parts of Motril. Independence in sight Green light for Torre del Mar mentally aware through a series of fun and educational activities. Motril Council believes that if children learn to be conscious of environmental issues at a young age, they will be more likely to apply their knowledge in practical ways, by doing things like recycling or making a concerted effort

to save energy. In order to make the programme more dynamic, developers have created two superhero characters who will educate the children by stressing the importance of environmental conservation. The idea is to make the children feel that they too can be

superheroes who can help to save the planet. The environment has been a hot topic in the news over the last few weeks. The Paris conference is under way, with a record 147 leaders together under one roof attempting to arrive at solutions to environmental issues.

TORRE del Mar was declared a Local Autonomous Entity at a VelezMalaga plenary session following months of discussion and work. The news means the area will have more independence. See Page 5
