Palma marches for the planet PROTEST ahead of UN climate summit By Glynis German This Sunday (November 29) local environmental organisations from Palma will be doing their bit by holding a march as part of a global climate campaign. The demonstration is one of more than 2,000 marches taking place in 150 countries in advance of the UN climate summit in Paris, next Sunday (December 6). Campaigners around the world are looking to influence one of the biggest UN summits of the decade. Online activist network organisers, Avaaz, had originally planned to march through the streets of Paris
but due to the recent terrorist attacks, this has been cancelled due to heightened security. Marches across the world, however, will go ahead. “It’s time to take a stand for change, to demand that our politicians do more than just state their good intentions,” explained organiser Rocio Juan Ruiz. “Sunday will be a day to do just that, by wearing green and dancing with the band Drummers for Peace, and Tomas Graves will read from the organisation’s manifesto to conclude the proceedings.”
