Great results for Easter By Maria Jose Fernandez THE Easter holidays in Mallorca have generated exceptionally good results for visitor numbers and economic activity. Hotel occupancy increased by 10 points if compared with the same period last year. This was especially true in Palma, where hotels around the city centre saw close to 100 per cent occupancy, according to Alfonso Robledo, head of the Balearic Islands Restaurant Industry Confederation.

“We could say this year everything was in our favour. The weather could not have been better and the two markets which have the biggest impact in the commercial sector - the Spanish and the Scandinavian - have seen a great development. In addition, local consumption has also increased. “All these factors have produced a 15 per cent growth in the sector, especially in Palma and tourist areas,” Robledo commented.

THE Infanta Cristina, charged in the Noos corruption case together with her husband Iñaki Urdangarin, has presented her statement of defence to Palma Court. “She merely signed the documents presented to her by her husband, without asking for explanations,” the paper reads.
