First for Copa del Rey THE 33rd edition of Copa del Rey MAPFRE - one of the most important sporting events of the summer in Spain - was held in Palma Bay between August 2 and 9. This year’s competition was made even more special by the fact that it was the first time that Felipe de Borbon participated in the famous regattas as King of Spain since he was crowned on June 19. Felipe VI has always been passionate about water sports and he was even a member of the Spanish Olympic sailing team in Barcelona in 1992. Organised by the Royal Nautical Club of Palma, the 33rd edition of Copa del Rey MAPFRE saw teams from all over the world arrive in Mallorca to compete for one of the coveted trophies. New tourism law a hit with island hoteliers BALEARIC hoteliers have announced that they consider the new tourism law to be a step in the right direction. The hotel federations of Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera have expressed their appreciation of the new law, which encourages quality tourism as well as competition in all sectors of the hotel industry. In a joint press release they said they had studied the changes the new law proposes and fully support them. The new law gives legal guarantees for the promotion of the diversification of Balearic
