Youth council in Rincon
School holidays
A SPECIAL plenary session at Rincon de la Victoria Town Hall saw 24 youths from local high schools participate directly in the debate, while another group watched from the public gallery. The principal objective of this ‘youth session’ was to discuss matters of interest to the young, including bike lanes and sports installations. The secondary aim was for the youth of the area to gain first-hand experience of how local government and politics work and to familiarise them with the way in which ideas can become by-laws. Other matters raised by the young participants included the price of bus tickets, street lighting and the municipal library.
MORE than 50 students from local high schools in Almuñecar and La Herradura will be making the most of the Easter break and going on educational trips this week. The Almuñecar and Puerta del Mar high schools are making a tour of Italy, with stops in Rome, Sienna, Florence and Venice. La Herradura high school will go on a Mediterranean cruise stopping in many cities including Palma de Mallorca and Corsica.
