50,000 expected for beach music festival UP to 50,000 visitors are expected to descend on a seaside resort for the Axarquia’s biggest beach party. In July, Torre del Mar in Velez Malaga will host the Weekend Beach Festival. Between 20,000 and 50,000 visitors from all over the country are expected to attend the

event, which will take place between July 3 and 5. The festival will open its doors at 7pm and close at 7am; tickets will go on sale at €25 for just the festival or €35 for camping included. Francisco Toro, organiser of the event, said there will be a great variety of musical styles

Eviction of Dolores on hold THE eviction of Dolores Ruiz has been put on hold due to a lack of police support and to protect the Motril court officials, Dolores, 73, has lived in the same house since she was born and, although some family members have known about the eviction for some time, she only found out about it a few days before she was due to be ousted. She is being evicted by her own two sons from whom she has been estranged for three years.

ALMUÑECAR’S Youth Services is holding a competition to find a logo to represent them. Youth Councillor Maria del Mar Medina said the logo would be used in all official communications, on the web and posters. Each entrant can present a maximum of two designs at the Casa de la Juventud in Arco del Cine Street before the May 19. All work must be original and accompanied by contact details. First prize is €1,000.
