Former mayor recalls plan to care for donkey taxis THE situation of the donkey taxis in Mijas Pueblo continues to be a matter of discussion not just with expatriates, but Spanish politicians as well. The president of the local Partido Popular (PP), Angel Nozal, has once again put forward his proposals for the area with regard to the care of animals. He wants to see the creation of a shelter for abandoned animals in the EL Barrio quarry and the creation of accommodation for the donkey taxis According to the former mayor, the current accommodation which is located in an area adjacent to human habitation is unsanitary and needs to be moved and would have been whilst he was in power had the funds been available. “Now there are no excuses. They (the current council) still have a year and a lot of money in the bank. If they do not, it will be in our 2019 programme,” he said.
