Evocación Nazarí, the latest mural to be unveiled in Estepona Photo Credit: Ayuntamiento de Estepona
51st mural added to collection by Michael Cano THE council in Estepona has added the 51st wall mural to it celebrated Route of Artistic Murals which was only initiated in 2012. This latest work by the artist José Fernández Ríos is described as example of hyperrealist art which is a movement that uses photographs from
A Happy & Prosperous New Year to all our Clients and Readers from the RTN team
which the artists work and which they try to copy as accurately as possible. This 600 square metre work covers several buildings in the recently remodelled Plaza Antonia Guerrero and features a number of Andalucian images including the Alhambra in Granada, the Alcazaba in Malaga or the mythical city of Medina Azahara. The artist has taken advantage of
the different heights and architectural elements of the buildings to produce a ‘trompe l’oeil’ meant to appeal and perhaps surprise passers-by where the arches and battlements typical of Arab architecture share the spotlight with natural landscapes of great beauty and colour. The new work Evocación Nazarí (named after the Nasrid Kingdom
of Granada) is the most recent of the murals in Estepona to be produced by José Fernández Ríos who was also responsible for Day of Fishing, the largest vertical mural in Spain to occupy almost 1,000 square meters over six blocks, Girl watering, which has become one of the most photographed for its hyperrealism and Reflections of the Garden.
