LAKE IDRO, LAKE LEDRO, LAKE TENNO

An itinerary dedicated to the smallest of the mountain Lakes, starting with Lake Idro. Situated between the mountains of Brescia, this lake is dominated by the Rocca D’Anfo (the Rock of Anfo), the lower portion of which is reachable by a short, pleasant walk, whilst the higher portion requires a three-hour hike up to the Napoleon fortress where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake. You will proceed to Lake Ledro and visit the stilt house museum. In the afternoon, you will reach Lake Tenno with its incredible blue-turquoise waters. Here it is possible to take a walk around the lake or visit Canale, one of Italy’s prettiest villages. On the way back to the hotel, there will also be a final stop at a typical dairy for a tasting of local products.

LAKE CALDONAZZO, ARTE SELLA, AND LAKE LEVICO

Caldonazzo and Levico: two lakes entirely in the Trentino region and two of the warmest in southern Europe. In Caldonazzo, a brief stroll will take you to an old mine museum, which is situated in a natural park and illustrates the history of the mine and its miners. In Levico, you will visit the unmissable Hapsburg Park. With five hundred plants, it is the most extensive historic park in Trentino.

Following the Valsugana road, you will reach the secular forest turned openair museum, “Arte Sella”, where nature and art meet and the impossible be comes reality. Here, all manner of natural resources have been turned into art and left to merge with nature.

DISCOVERING COFFEE AND GRAPPA IN ROVERETO

(HALF DAY)

Rovereto is well known to lovers of modern art and has become the main location of the MART Museum of Contemporary Art, one of the best-known cultural centres for modern art in Europe. Rovereto is also a town steeped in history and home to the War Museum, the Castel Dante War Memorial (also called “Ossuary”) and the Bell of the Fallen, which is struck 100 times every evening, signalling a plea for world peace. After a stroll through the streets of the town, you will visit the Coffee Museum, which is the oldest coffee roasting company in Italy, where you can admire the first roasters from the late 18th century, to the forerunners of the Italian coffee pots, to the latest generation of coffee bar espresso machines. After a cup of finest coffee, you will head to a distillery to have a look behind the scenes and enjoy a tasting of selected grappas.

THE SCENIC NATURE OF TRENTINO

A day to discover the beautiful nature away from the hustle and bustle of tourist resorts. The first destination is Arco. The town boasts a unique at mosphere thanks to its past as a renowned European health resort with a mild climate and Mediterranean vegetation. Next stopover is in Varone to visit one of the most impressive waterfalls in the area. Afterwards you will discover the medieval town of Canale di Tenno, which is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. From here you can get to the turquoise blue Lake Tenno on foot or by bus, which is an absolute gem in the Trentino region.

You will take the bus to Comano Terme and the train to Rango. You will have time for a walk through the streets of the village with its famous square fountain, and taste the typical walnut cake of the region. You will go by bus to Lake Toblin, a small alpine lake with a charming castle, where you can have a coffee on the terrace and enjoy the magnificent view of the lake.

MEDIEVAL TOWNSVAL DI NON AND MELINDA APPLES

The Val di Non (Non Valley) in Trentino Alto Adige holds a lot of surprises! The area features three plateaus boasting gentle slopes cultivated with apples, and deep gorges cut by the Noce river and its tributaries. The Val di Non is famous for its highland apples and spectacular landscape. There are three things not to be missed here: the Sanctuary of San Romedio, situated on a steep rocky spur in the natural scenery of the valley, Lake Tovel, a beautiful corner for walks to soak up the wonderful colours of the forest, and the 16th-century Castel Thun, one of the most beautiful medieval castles in Italy. It is situated on a hill overlooking the entire valley and surrounded by fortifying walls, towers, walls and ramparts. Before leaving, a visit to the famous Mondo Melinda apple orchards is a must to get some background information and to taste a few delicacies.

(BASSANO DEL GRAPPA, MAROSTICA AND SOAVE)

This excursion is a leap back in time to the Middle Ages to discover the charm ing towns of Bassano del Grappa, Marostica and Soave, whose town walls, towers and castles have been almost completely preserved. Walking through these beautiful towns, you will not only see history, but you will feel it in every corner. You will also learn plenty of interesting facts about their culinary traditions. You will visit the Grappa Museum and taste different types of grappa, and you will stopover in Soave to visit a winery for a wine tasting including regional specialities.

VENETO: IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF GREAT ARCHITECTS

Vicenza and Venetian Villas

Vicenza has a beautiful old town, perfect for strolling around and soaking up the Italian atmosphere. It is particularly famous for its elegant buildings from the Gothic and Renaissance period, especially the Palladian villas, designed by architect Andrea Palladio. One of his most famous works is the Teatro Olimpico, Italy’s first indoor theatre, which has survived intact until today. The tour continues to the Sanctuary of Monte Berico, Villa Valmarana ai Nani with its frescoes by Tiepolo, and Villa La Rotonda, Andrea Palladio’s masterpiece. The villa is considered a precious heritage not only of Vicenza but of whole Italy.

Padua and the Riviera del Brento

You will visit Padua, one of the oldest and most famous cultural cities in Italy. On a guided tour you will see, among other things, the main building of the university dating back to 1222, Piazza delle Erbe, the Basilica of St. Anthony and the small Scrovegni Chapel with its fresco painting by Giotto. Next stop is in Dolo where you will embark for a boat trip on the Brenta Canal, a scenic inland waterway leading from Venice to Padua, famous for its grand villas along the shores. You will make a pause in Mira for a visit to Villa Widmann, a jewel of Venetian rococo art, and continue to Malcontenta, where the boat trip comes to an end.

3

MANTUA AND ITS WATERWAYS

Discover Mantua by boat, navigating the lakes that surround the city. First up, Lake Mezzo, followed by stops at the memorial park, the 16th-century Porta Giulia, and the waterfalls of Lake Superiore. You will enjoy the view of the ducal palace of Mantua, which seemingly rises from the water, reminiscent of Venice with its castle, towers and basilicas. Then, it is natures turn to shine, as floating lotus flowers and water chestnuts extend across the water. After the boat tour, you will head to a restaurant specializing in rice to try a selection of dishes with a nice glass of wine. There will be a short stop in Borghetto before returning to the hotel. Considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, it has maintained its medieval charm and exists in perfect harmony with the River Mincio. The village is known for its waterwheels and the extraordinary Visconteo Bridge.

PARMA AND LANGHIRANO

Parma is a magical place that has a lot to offer. The city boasts a refined atmosphere and is known as the “little Paris” with impressive cultural and artistic traditions. Parma is also famous for its culinary specialities and was named Creative City of Gastronomy by the UNESCO.

Furthermore, it is the capital of Food Valley, an important culinary area of Italy that produces Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, Parma ham and Culatello di Zibello ham. A local guide will take you to the most important sights such as Piazza del Duomo, the Cathedral, the Baptistery of San Giovanni and the Teatro Farnese.

Afterwards, you will visit a ham factory, where you can learn about the production of the original Italian Parma ham and, of course, taste it.

THE ILLASI VALLEY - OF HISTORY AND NATURE

Rural villages, breathtaking and untouched; the history and legend of an cient civilizations. An experience that will immerse you in both the historic richness and the natural beauty of the East Veronese countryside. Discover the two souls of the territory: its history, rooted in the tertiary era, and its products. We will take a dive into the past, 50 million years ago, visiting the cave of Pesciaria, and the Fossil Museum of Bolca. The museum illustrates the past lives of fish, molluscs, crustaceans, insects, algae, and terrestrial plants, that have left their image in stone, clear and full of detail - as if by miracle. We will then immerse ourselves in the countryside to visit an oil mill and a vineyard, where there will be a wine tasting of the Soave wine, accompanied by typical products of the territory such as bruschetta with olive tapenade, cured meats and cheeses.

BERGAMO AND FRANCIACORTA

Bergamo is a magnificent city known for its history, culture, music and land scape. The medieval old town is situated on top of a hill and surrounded by imposing Venetian walls, today part of the UNESCO World Heritage. You will get to the upper part by a funicular and enjoy fantastic views of the city and the surroundings. Once reached the old town, you will find yourself walking in a beautiful maze of cobbled streets winding their way between church es and historic sights, and have the opportunity to taste the one and only stracciatella ice-cream right in the place where it was born. In the afternoon, you will explore the beautiful scenery of the Franciacorta wine region, one of the Italian areas with the largest production of wines made by Méthode Champenoise, and visit a family-run winery for a tasting of local wines and other typical products.

APULIA CLASSIC CONTACT US FOR MORE INFORMATION:

During the tour we will taste these apulien typicals products:

SWEET TYPICAL PRODUCTS

Traditional snack: ostie ripiene, or stuffed hosts

WINE Castel del Monte DOC:

The typical designation of a number of red, white and rosé wines from typical vines grown near Frederick’s monument from which the place takes its name.

Locorotondo DOC:

A white table wine with a rich, fruity flavour, perfect accompaniment for typical Mediterranean fish dishes.

Primitivo di Manduria DOC:

The most famous wine of Apulia, native of the Ionian coasts of Salento which then spread all over the region, ideal for rich, elaborate Mediterranean dishes.

OIL

Collina di Brindisi oil has a maximum acidity of 0.80%, the taste is mild, slightly fruity while the flavour is stronger, the colour is rich golden yellow with some greenish nuances. The olive tree has been in the region since time immemorial, as proven by some centuries-old olive groves in Fasano and Ostuni, its most common growers, Ogliarola and Chiarita, dating back to Roman times. It is very popular because of its strong rustic character. The quality is excellent and the taste is mildly bitter and spicy.

BREAD

Pane di Altamura DOP:

The bread of Altamura is a mixture of re-ground durum wheat from the varieties appulo, arcangelo, duilio and simeto.

CHEESES

It is a medium-hard cheese with a thin, smooth and dark-yellow rind. The paste is thin with tiny white holes and a yellow colour that is paler than that of the rind. Mild and delicate when young, it becomes spicy when mature, however it remains fragrant and melting to the taste. Its name comes from the maturing technique where the cheeses are placed in pairs, “a cavallo”, i.e. straddling a horizontal support.
