boundaries that each team operates within at a typical EYP event, we will explore ways in which we can effectively bridge the gaps between the Academic, Media, Jury and Organising teams during the session.

Aside from format concerns, we hope to foster an event culture that caters to the needs and desires of each participant. Within EYP, it is very easy to lose sight of individual aims and desires in respect to the more grandiose goal of sculpting young political leaders. Many participants will likely have these dreams, but we also want to cater to those with simpler aspirations: those who want to learn to speak confidently through General Assembly, or those who want to learn more about politics. Through this, and other measures such as the provision of an Inclusion Fund for delegates, we hope to provide a more inclusive event environment.

It is here where the inclusion of “Discovering all boundaries” in our vision statement is important. We hope that every participant of Antwerp 2021 will be able to come away from the event with an understanding of what they are and are not comfortable with. However, one can only truly understand where these boundaries are by pushing one’s own limits. As a result, we hope to strike an effective balance at Antwerp 2021; between pushing limits and asserting boundaries, between incorporating new ideas and building on old ones, and crucially, hard and having fun. between working

One key pillar in which we want to push limits has already been put in place: sustainability. Antwerp 2021 aims at giving back to the earth by keeping the ecological footprint of the conference to a minimum. Concretely, the session will be a vegetarian and zero-waste event. Not only the organising team, but every participant will be influenced by a zero-waste and giving back mindset. Zero waste goes further than environmentally. We aspire to have zero wasted time, to push everybody to think creatively and organise their schedule of the day for maximizing skills development. We aim at developing these two core ideas even further down the line, while more and more participants hop on.

Through this statement of ‘Pushing Limits: discovering all boundaries’, one can come to understand we strive to achieve with Antwerp 2021; what we hope to impart to each participant. However, as we continue to develop the session vision as the team expands, it is likely that we will begin to incorporate several other concepts that underpin this vision. Consequently, whilst one can understand the goal of Antwerp 2021 through this simple phrase, understanding the ways in which this goal will be achieved will require commitment and creative thought on the part of those who join the leadership team of Antwerp 2021.
